I think we all watched SHSU's start last year, and thought: "what a disaster". As noted, there were a lot of close games, and they finished winning 3 out of the last 4. Good for them.

Keep the faith, we'll make this work. As even an apparent naysayer said here, we had no choice but to make the move. I'm glad we did.
A “disaster”?

Sammy was only “blown” out in 1 game 38-7 by Houston. They lost to the 2 top CUSA teams (Jax St 35-28 in OT) & (Liberty 21-16 & Sammy had the ball inside the red zone when time ran out).

Other losses:
BYU - 14-0;
AFA - 13-3;
NMSU - 27-13;
FIU - 33-27 2OT;
UTEP - 37-34; and
WKU - 28-23.

We can only hope UD is in most of the CUSA games in ‘25! Now, will the schedule makers, take it “easy” on UD & MSU in 25?
Sam Houston lost to FIU? Embarrassing

FIU managed to beat Maine last year 14-12 and a big comeback OT win vs Bryant in 2022 so maybe they’re building something down there in a little Havana

I’m saving them Pal, so that you'll remember when the Hens don't have more that 4 wins not counting DSU, (anything less then 5 wins total) you'll remember to call it a “disaster”!

Yes, it requires a subscription. Good piece by KT.

Among other things:

Chrissi confirms that the $5M fee for the move has been paid by 160 donors.

Me: Thanks to all that have contributed.

Go Hens!
[/quote
I echo that sentiment- thanks to all those donors and for Chrissi Rawak for making that happen.

Love KC but goodness, some people need to take their blinders, or sunglasses, off.

They had some close losses. They still lost. UD may/probably will do the same early on. It’s ok to point out.

Exactly. Dopey did not even understand what I said. SHSU finished strongly. As I said (twice), good for them.

Heck, I might be KC Keeler's biggest fan (at least according to some folks on here), but his last season at Sammy was a disappointment. For a multitude of reasons, not the least the fact that they are still replacing their offensive staff after Carty's short-notice exit, a handful of plays prevented them from having an 8-win season (the reported Gold Standard for some fans...cough-cough). But, lose they did.

I would not say the Bearkats season was a disaster...the team kept fighting. To me, a disaster is when the team and the coaching staff just give up (and yes, we have seen that here at UD); but why quibble about semantics. One does not want to win just three games in a season...period.

In the meantime, here at home, our Hens have been consistently getting our butts handed to us whenever we play any of the good teams. We pile up wins against crappy teams, and then face-plant, embarrassingly, on the national stage, against teams with talent and road graders. That has gone on for way too long.

This season, it would be nice to see us go out with a bang and some fun. Take the CAA crown (as tarnished as it may be), beat our soon-to-be-former-FCS peers and take momentum into our 2025 season.

Win...a lot.
Incoming joke, now arriving at Gate 8...Gate 9...Gate 10...Gate 14...Gate 15...Gate 23...24...25...

Can't believe I'm defending FIU--but here are some points to ponder:

--FIU finished Dead Last in CUSA---Yet.....

--Beat a respectable AAC school North Texas (5-7)

--Went to Hartford and beat UCONN (sure-they're weak--but any road win...)

--Did manage to beat a feisty SH team in Texas (another road win)

Looks like KT learned his lesson. Instead of the "there goes the neighborhood" quote from his piece last year on Hampton joining the CAA, he uses the much more diplomatic "membership changes in recent years have undermined the CAA’s status" in this article. :lol:

The reason for the Elon post was just to remind certain posters, many average to above average teams lose some games their supposed to win & win some games their supposed to lose.

I saw that TS and that’s why I mentioned something might be brewing down in a little Havana … besides the best cafe in the world anyway

Some other points to ponder - The Massey rankings
and by the way, it’ll be very interesting to see Delaware in the FBS rankings instead of FCS next year

FIU ranked #132 of 134 in preseason Massey rankings

CUSA ranked dead last in FBS, hopefully with the addition of Delaware, that will be changing soon…. :D

I have 2 thoughts after reading all the posts in this thread. It's an excellent topic which requires 100% astute long term planning just like most of us possess a financial growth plan that requires sharp decision making at least annually.

a) I was surprised/disturbed that it took donors to pay the entry fee for FBS instead of the university. I figured UD could shell out the dinero and then...... see b) below

b) I agree with Big R that the lack of an upgrade or any mention of one since the facilities campaign for funds began years ago is disappointing. We need an update by CR!!!!

SO.........Is the long term goal to potentially use our new CUSA decision as a stepping stone to a stronger conference affiliation? If so then we need to be able to appeal to higher ranked schools who will be willing to come to OUR STADIUM- probably in a 2 for 1 arrangement at first. By increasing our seating capacity and performing competently on the field, we should be able to finally draw some attention to our "UP and COMING" football program. No more second division athletic status quo mediocrity. If the university truly desires this, then they must NOT go into this endeavor half ****. Be a stallion-not a jackass! Pulling the trigger is one thing(CUSA), hitting the target is another.

one more thought- We seem to bemoan our football(and other programs) at the end of their seasons. Amnesia/survival then takes over. As time passes and we lead up to the next season, things always look rosy again as hope returns. This is logical, but often unfulfilling. We all(me included) hope to view an exciting successful 2024. If this unfortunately isn't accomplished then it's time to turn the reins over. Start anew with different leadership.

I'm truly concerned but hopeful this sad scenario doesn't transpire. But if it does, then our leadership must act aggressively and pull that trigger!
Keep the faith kick butt go Hens
