CUSA on TV Thursday Night
I know there are varying opinions on UD's move to FBS but I hope I speak for a large segment of fans who look forward to being able to turn on the TV or open ESPN and see coverage of our Hens alongside the big names in college sports. We all know how great UD and the state of DE is as a whole but it can sometimes feel like our secret in relation to the national media landscape. I'm optimistic this move will get the word out a bit.
Sitting in New England last night I was easily able to see a CUSA game on real tv, no streaming, no jumping through hoops. Unfortunately JAX State got their butts whooped so in that regard it wasn't the best showcase but soon enough UD will be benefitting from that same exposure with the CUSA patch on their sleeves and field being televised across the country.
Ms. Rawak seems like the perfect person to be steering this ship and while I'm looking forward to it I hope we're getting ready. Excited for 2025!

I'm extremely excited for the future of Delaware Football. It's not going to be an easy road for sure, but better than where they are now. I was watching the game on my phone last night while out and people would ask two questions:
- Who is Delaware playing? (Bryant)
- Who the F is Bryant? (Exactly)
Kick **** this season and head into C-USA on a high note.
Go Hens!!!

I get the "who the f is Bryant" and being on ESPN is nice but let's act like Kennnesaw State, UTEP, WKU, and Jax State are household names, I just found out Jacksonville state is in Alabama?? Can anyone tell me what a Kennesaw State is???RalphD58 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 9:18 pm I'm extremely excited for the future of Delaware Football. I'll take "Where the F" FBS teams over "Where the F" FCS teams any day. The CAA isn't where Delaware Football should be playing. Is C-USA the best conference? No. Better than the CAA. Yes.

Georgia, not far from Atlanta. Name comes from a Cherokee word meaning burial ground.LifetimeHensFan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 10:46 pmI get the "who the f is Bryant" and being on ESPN is nice but let's act like Kennnesaw State, UTEP, WKU, and Jax State are household names, I just found out Jacksonville state is in Alabama?? After moving to Delaware, one of my cousins asked me “where in New Jersey is that?”
Kennesaw may not be a household name in the mid Atlantic, but I’d rather be playing them as a member of the G5.

Sounds like you are more concerned about KSU than getting Delaware on National TV in prime time.LifetimeHensFan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 10:46 pmI get the "who the f is Bryant" and being on ESPN is nice but let's act like Kennnesaw State, UTEP, WKU, and Jax State are household names, I just found out Jacksonville state is in Alabama?? The only way you are going to be in a league with "household names " is if you get invited by the SEC, B10, ACC, or B12.
BUT in 2025--mostly because you are FBS (CUSA) you will play Wake Forest and Colorado and in '26 Vanderbilt and Virginia.
WKU may not be a "name" to CASUAL fans but...
--have FOUR wins over the SEC the last eleven years
--have won Seven Bowl games (all National TV) in the last ten years
--finished #24 in the Final AP FBS Poll (2015)
--have been on National TV over Fifty times in FB--including prime time tonight on The ESPN at 7:00 vs Alabama.
--household "name" coaches; Jim Harbaugh, B. Petrino, Willie Taggart, Jeff Brohm, and Five coaches who became NFL HEAD Coaches
(Don't even get me started on Basketball--24 NCAA's, 8 Sweet 16's, 1 Final Four, https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/side ... 0404075720
UTEP--The movie "Glory Road" was about UTEP--one of the better Sports movies ever. Home of the SUN BOWL--second oldest Bowl game.
JAX ST.--defeated Florida St. (2021), First team in the History of FBS (2023) to win a Bowl game in their very first year of transition from fcs; Rich Rodriguez (WV, Michigan, Arizona); attendance was about 4,500 per game more than Delaware (2023).

Folks, change is hard, but staying in the CAA = our team being that lady who was just found dead at her desk, at a cubicle, after 4 days. No one shuffling around the office noticed her...despite the smell. Are you kidding me?
The CAA is a shell of what is used to be and the University of Delaware is not known in the football world anymore. No one notices.
Bryant. Did you see that team? We just beat up the Girl Scouts...with their high school head coach. God bless them, they're trying...but look at the slop on our schedule this year...untenable.

By the way, kudos to the Bison for coming within 4 yards of beating Colorado yesterday.
Damned shame NDSU didn't win...they couldn't keep up with the CO receivers, but the Bison went in and gave that clown show a game.
When we get on national TV next year and beyond, I hope we have some solid results, including stealing some wins, against our future P4 opponents.

Re: CUSA on TV Thursday Night
Cluck U - Was thinking same thing and was rooting for Bison to beat Buffs as well. Was also thinking an NDSU win, would have eliminated any sneak advantage Hens might have in 2025.
BTW: Hoping Colorado may not be as explosive next year, as their top 3 weapons on offense- S Sanders/T Hunter/J Horn expected to be drafted in Spring; and can be snuck up on. What about Horn - he had quite a night - 200ish yards receiving.
As for next year:
Just for the record, I might be in the minority, but Im actually looking forward to 2 mid-week home games next Oct against good competition (best weather time of year to watch football). Whats not to like? A planned half day of work, 60 deg early afternoon drinks/tailgating, easy travel back down Rt 1 (this all sounds freakin incredible as long as it doesnt interfere with any Phils post season tailgating ) I may even take my shirt off for ESPN. Go Hens!

Re: CUSA on TV Thursday Night
The vast majority of folks in the stands throughout the country every week are casuals.
Never forget that WE are the weirdos, outliers, etc. Those who post on message boards and the like.
We know who UTEP, Western KY. are but most only know the logos they see on TV or the teams they grew up hearing about.
Those of us who came back in the stadium on Thursday night - we are the weirdos. I know we left two fans behind in the vehicle I came up in. I suspect most of the folks who came back in for the second half did the same. Every tailgate group is stacked with casuals.

Re: CUSA on TV Thursday Night
A lot of talk about recognition for UD. The only way we might/will receive decent coverage would be to go undefeated into the Villanova game AND for the Wildcats to beat Maryland and be undefeated when we meet them. That scenario would at least create some real excitement with our cushy schedule.
BTW- we missed out on the road to financial success by scheduling Bryant. SO MANY FCS teams are having a wonderful pay day this first week of college football by scheduling up to play FBS teams. Yeah it wouldn't have been a home game, but it would/could have been on national tv. I'll leave it at that!

Keep the faith kick butt go Hens
