BTW: Hoping Colorado may not be as explosive next year, as their top 3 weapons on offense- S Sanders/T Hunter/J Horn expected to be drafted in Spring; and can be snuck up on. What about Horn - he had quite a night - 200ish yards receiving.

As for next year:
Just for the record, I might be in the minority, but Im actually looking forward to 2 mid-week home games next Oct against good competition (best weather time of year to watch football). Whats not to like? A planned half day of work, 60 deg early afternoon drinks/tailgating, easy travel back down Rt 1 (this all sounds freakin incredible as long as it doesnt interfere with any Phils post season tailgating  ) I may even take my shirt off for ESPN. Go Hens!
If you live north of the PA E-W Turnpike, like me, night games on any night (though Friday/Saturday/Sunday afternoons/nights are the worst) can be a very long trip to UD. Rush "hour" can start by NLT 3:00 PM (and sometimes earlier) and last until 7:00 PM or even later. I have to travel down I-476 (The Blue Route), I-95 S in PA, and then deal with the junction of I-95 & I-295 in DE. Add in the possibilities of Phillies games, Eagles games, Flyers games, 76'ers games, Phila. Union games, Nova games, Temple FB games at the Linc, and/or concerts/shows at the Linc, Citizens Bank Park, Wells Fargo Center, etc. it can be a nightmare to get to UD and back home using I-476 without any real alternative route.
Years and years ago, when going home, I would sometime head north towards Hockessin (I forget the route #’s) and then continued on, hooking up with Rt. 1. I took that up to 252 because I was going to Rosemont. You could grab 202. Longer and still traffic but avoids those bottlenecks you mentioned. And the back roads were pretty pleasant. Don’t know it that is still true!

Sally, Thank you for the suggested alternate routes. I find 202 to be just as bad or worse almost any time in terms of traffic, delays, and time. From UD Routes 72, 2. 141 100, then back roads to Route 1, then Route 252, Route 202, to Route 422, etc. would just be too long and take too much time , though it might be a less stressful trip.

You're correct Sally. I live in Hockessin and commuted to Malvern PA for 31 years. Multiple ways from 202 down into Delaware. Longer drive but much more pleasant and scenic.

202 is a highway from the E/W turnpike to West Chester and I traveled it every day for 31 years during rush hour. Back roads from West Chester to Hockessin to Newark is a much easier and stress free way.
But why am I even trying to help at this point…

Fact check for you tokers Pat and Caribbean- bongs, joints, etc use was way way back for me. I was a child of the 60's  I expect whenever, if ever, Tennessee legalizes pot( more than 0.03%) I would probably purchase some just for some limited fun  I believe this post will end your fun  It was cute early on, but it's become a broken record.

So, I don't do any drugs as you Pat constantly post. I expect you're a drinker- whether a happy or angry one I have no clue

good for you Pat in how you deal with alcohol.
as to my post being of clear mind- yes-sober and very clear in factual details. I stay up on all the news which is one of the joys of retirement. Unfortunately the news these days requires checking the sources as we all know for sports, politics, etc Now, my opinions on things UD are just that. I have a tendency to seek the LCD, but I see no reason to think small and accept a second class status quo for my alma mater. We're beginning to see the light with our FBS move. We'll never consistently be a top 50 program though many years down the road we might crack that barrier! There is no reason to think small and give up. We need the right people to take that BIG step. I will voice my opinions on that leadership in a clear minded fashion, and I'm not afraid to take some flack from those who disagree. Many who have disagreed in the past with my thoughts have now accepted a number of them. I seek no personal recognition. I only want my university to be the best it can be. I want to be proud of our teams athletic pursuits

Slow week, I guess.

Looking forward to a couple Thursday night games.

I can walk to the games, so traffic isn't really a problem. Not sailing or doing much on Thursday nights in October, so a couple Hen games fill a slot. :D
Oct. 12...long range forecast is for sunny skies.

Perfect day for sunglasses. 8)

Woot!

bluehen99 wrote: Sat Aug 31, 2024 11:23 am Well it's nice to see that I'm not the only one excited about moving up. Sometimes the detractors seem to be the loudest voices in the room.

It's a little bittersweet because an old UD roommate and I shared the FBS vision for years (decades!) and he sadly passed away a couple years ago but I'll drink a beer for him when the hens take the FBS field.

A quick glance at tv listings in my area shows FIU, WKU, and UTEP all on national TV this afternoon. As someone said above maybe these aren't national names, but at least we're finally at the table.
We had many detractors at Sam Houston when we decided to move up. They are all on board now....except for Katfans' resident troll, Tripod. But he is never happy considering he in his 46th year living in his mother's basement.
