WR Phil Lutz

Post by Caribbean Hen »

Phil Lutz had been spectacular this year and is putting up All American like stats

Third in the nation at 22.79 yards per catch…. The kind of explosive playmaker Carty talks about

https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fcs ... vidual/930

547 Receiving yards places him 10th

Third in the country with 8 TD receptions

https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fcs ... vidual/752

What a great pick up by the coaching staff!

I do remember a general negative reaction on here last year when it was announced that we had signed yet another WR and out of Div3 ….. Turns out Carty was right on the money with Lutz

I don’t recall a negative reaction, but I can’t remember what I had for breakfast this morning…LOL. Having said that, Lutz has been amazing and so much fun to watch. Does he have another year of eligibility hopefully???

Lutz has been awesome. He seems to have good chemistry with all of our QBs. Great addition to the team. Just like What's-His-Name was. All they do is catch touchdowns and make big plays.

It is odd that some folks don't welcome some new players. If Carty and the other coaches think a player belongs on the team, then I am going to believe that the kid has some potential to help this team win.

It is important to remember that our coaching staff also considers how the new additions will impact the locker room. Talent and attitude are important.

So far, so good. Carty just wins.

23-9 (.718)
13-6 (68.4)

That record includes an FBS win and two straight playoff appearances (and playoff victories).

I'm going to enjoy watching our Hens this year...including Lutz. Happy to see him have success at this level, and I am sure he is happy to be playing in the Tub.

Don’t believe he does.

Old Henzone was very negative about it as well, questioning why we needed yet another WR. Glad Lutz is on our team.

Yes Indeed
I’m thinking a lot of FBS coaches should be saying … jeez we missed it on Phil Lutz.

I said before the season started that Lutz would have a big season (go back and look it up folks lol) because he is a very good route runner, and he has surpassed even what I thought he could do in the offense, particularly the long balls that he has taken for touchdowns. The biggest surprise to me has been Jake Thaw, I didn't even know he was on the roster before the first game. He has been that chain movers that we needed to compliment the speed guys. Either way the offensive play has been well above average in all areas in my opinion, and the defense has been decent to good. Feels great to be 6-0, even though I know the schedule hasn't exactly been a murderers row. But a LOT of kids are getting the playing time and even if some will only play the four games to preserve their redshirt, the game experience can't be replicated in practice and gives the coaching staff plenty to look at in the off-season as we head to FBS next season. Always happy to hear everyone else's opinions as well. I'm making the trip from southeast Tennessee and will be in the Tub for the Rhode Island and Campbell games, maybe will run into a few posters there.

“Lutz, Camera, Action”. I thought we were going to miss the steady play of Jordan Townsend. Lutz is a God send. BTW, Townsend is working with the wide outs as a Grad Assist.

Phil Lutz now has 11 TD receptions placing him 4th in the nation

On the first one, Flo viewers were lucky as the cameraman was on it and you could see it had 6 written all over it as Lutz broke free down the side line as ball was being thrown… beautiful to actually be able to see a play develop like that.. little bobble by Lutz in the EZ but no problem for our sure handed wide receiver

The second one was an incredible one-handed catch. As the ball was being thrown I was like noooo that’s way too high and then number 13 leaps up into the sky and grabs it with one hand… TD

Again, Lutz was a tremendous get by our coaching staff but they need to keep finding players like this as their job depends on it.

Footnote: Sincere Brown looked horrible yesterday but I still believe he should be one that Carty should have an eye on

Brown is long and lanky. His legs look like extended tooth picks. I suppose Lutz will make an effort to get NFL attention. Who was the Patriot WR target for Brady who played college lacrosse?

The interception by Ware bounced right off Sincere Browns hands of stone…

Phil Lutz his 11 touchdown receptions as per UD stats

Lutz has been a fantastic addition. What makes him even more special is his ability to get significant yardage after the catch.

Lutz is one of the best receivers we have had at Delaware. Gets open, sure hands, and enough speed to make it happen. I bet someone invites him to an NFL camp for a look see.
