Re: Field Hockey, Lacrosse and Men's Soccer Conference?
Glad UD and other academic institutions are finally getting on board with the compelling arguments from the minority on at least one important topic, climate. The increased travel due to conference realignment will be a drop in the bucket, or really a molecule in the air, but it is at least a start....

Re: News Journal Article Today 03/20/24
That the defense is small, not very physical nor aggressive is not really debatable. A 3-3-5 can work but it needs the right players and play calls just like any defense. And the second 3 just got smaller as Davis was moved from the secondary at 200. As the Hens move to FBS/CUSA, they need a talent ...

Re: 2024-25 CAA Offseason Guide
This is really good stuff. Hope some transfers in are announced soon. UD needs to create a winning and exciting environment similar to Charleston and UNCW to be able to have any hope to keep the better players longer in the world of the portal and NIL. The last two years at the Bob have been a snooz...

Re: Hens Offseason
I keep going back to teams like Charleston, JMU, Grand Canyon, St Mary’s, and others. How are they doing it? Don’t reinvent the wheel. Let’s figure out how some mid-majors are thriving in this new world and follow their example. You aren't the only one thinking this way. There are many of us that t...

Re: College Basketball Coaches
Yale. JMU. REPEAT: J M U. Ooof. JMU ….I am a little jealous….We can only hope things will get better in Newark, but our history doesn’t give me great hope. JMU didn’t have much basketball history till this year, maybe a little back in the 80s. Hard to believe the Hens beat up on them just two years...

Maybe report the “facts” here then. You know. The things you know that few do. Earn a reputation as a reporter/member of the media. I mean, gohens already has a media rep so it wouldn’t be a novel idea. These supposed insider incuendos ring a little hollow, just like UD crying poor, and seem a littl...

Re: College Basketball Coaches
Maybe Calapari’s star is dimming a little with another first round/early loss? #14 Oakland just beat #3 Kentucky with a DII transfer guard that shot 10-20 on 3’s. And oh yeah … they made 15 3s total. And #11 Duquesne beat #6 BYU with 5 players 6’7” or bigger and 4 of them from foreign countries … Ma...

Re: College Basketball Coaches
Well, UD has never had a”very good team in the bigger scheme of things” I guess. But the 13-14 team did win the most games in school history, the only regular season conference championship and one of two NCAA tournament appearances in the 21st century. So there is that. I wish one of those 21st cen...

I agree too. The local coverage is quite good.BlueHenBobby wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 10:12 am I have a Delaware on Line subscription and find it well worth it. Sports coverage in general is far superior to my local paper. Their local news coverage is good as well.

Re: College Basketball Coaches
Future Hall of Fame coach versus a Hall of Shame coach. Man, some folks will defend anything. Hey! I wasn’t comparing coaches. I was comparing some of the idiotic responses to coaches when they win. That’s all. Sometimes it is better to just stay quiet. And I was expecting at least a couple more em...

Re: College Basketball Coaches
How about Mark Few at Gonzaga? His record is 714–142 (.834) and he has 41 NCAA tournament wins. All at a school of 5000 out in the middle of nowhere. And this debate of “who can coach” versus only recruit is really meaningless. Winning is what matters. At UD, it is really all about getting to the NC...

Re: Syracuse 3/16
Sounds like better metrics are needed. 14-6 is a pretty big loss in lacrosse, especially only scoring 6 goals. It appears it doesn’t take much analysis to figure out the Hens are still a notch below the top programs. The Hens may get still get in the NCAA’s as a play in and beat some stiff badly. An...

Re: 2024 Baseball
A 27-13 loss to Rutgers today. Ugh Yikes. And the Hens scored 6 in the bottom of the 9th to even make it 27-13. Getting beat by Rutgers is one thing, especially after struggling with the likes of Lehigh and Lafayette. But giving up 42 runs in two games ……. Phew! From afar, as in not seeing them pla...

Re: CAA Tournament, Quarterfinal: Hofstra
Players get told they won’t get much playing time all the time. If they want to play, they transfer. If the they don’t care if they don’t play, they stay. It isn’t a difficult concept to grasp.
