2024 recruits

Post by LILax » Wed Sep 21, 2022 1:44 pm

I was going to provide an update to the '23 preview. Not a ton to report there. The Hens have a nice freshman class on campus along with a FOGO transfer from D3 Seton Hill. I will give feedback on these guys after the Alumni game and scrimmages against UMBC and Hobart in mid-OCT.

I did want to share the Hens recent recruiting success for the class of 2024.

Last week the Hens received commitments from TWO 4 Star defensemen out of Baltimore. Lange Gaspar is a really athletic defenseman out of blue chip Calvert Hall. Gaspar is quick and rangy and will immediately contribute to the Hens upon landing in Newark. The second 4 Star defenseman is from another top Baltimore program. Liam Powell is a super aggressive defenseman out of Loyola Blakefield with nice size and speed. These two will anchor the next gen Hens in a couple years.

The Hens also signed two terrific offensive players. Bennett Parmer out of Manheim PA is an unbelievably quick attackman who is equally adept at passing and creating his own shots. He is a combination of JP Ward and Charlie Kitchen, not as big, but with more speed and quickness. He is super tough and will most likely run the offense from X following the graduation of Ward. The second offensive player is a really athletic midfielder with great quickness and change of direction. Carson "Maverick" Smith led his Hebron HS team into the Howard Co. championship as a sophomore. Maverick has great athleticism and is a big steal for the Hens. Smith, who can shoot equally well with both hands, was considering Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina among other schools. Here is a recent video of Smith at work:

Great start on the recruiting trail. Boys are on it. GO HENS!

LI Lax, Good stuff. UD Men's Lax recruiting was undoubtedly helped by UD's win at Georgetown in the Sweet 16 and competitive loss to Cornell in the elite eight of the 2022 NCA Tourney. It would seem that UD may also be helped in recruiting by presumably being able to offer earlier playing time than many of the traditional powers who are always well stocked with highly rated recruits. The recent high drafting of UD Men's Lax players by professional Lax leagues also has to help recruiting. I would like to see a few Canadians (particularly on attack) due to the box lax played there) in every UD Men's Lax recruiting class.

Please furnish link(s) where Men's Lax recruits are ranked and verbals/commits by college are shown.

mpwerrell, Thanks. A good site but it doesn't rank players or recruiting classes by college. LI Lax is obviously using other sites.

LIL, spoke to a lacrosse player today and showed him your analysis. He enjoyed your take. Also said he went to school with one of the recruits and says the guy will be a good edition.

The team is excited and is looking forward to returning to the tourney. Lots of energy and focus. Can’t wait for the scrimmages.
Ryan Carty - you were a part of UD’s 2003 football championship with KC Keeler, and a part of Sammy’s 2021 Championship with KC Keeler. Bring some of that winning magic back to our Hens!
