RICHMOND, Va. (March 29, 2021) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 6 of the spring 2021 season. Delaware senior running back Dejoun Lee received Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Delaware sophomore defensive end Chase McGowan and Richmond senior defensive end Darius Reynolds shared Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Stony Brook junior Anthony Del Negro was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week and Stony Brook freshman defensive back Nick Chimienti was named Rookie of the Week.

CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Dejoun Lee, Sr., RB, Delaware (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock)

Lee rushed for a career-high 221 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries to lead #11/9 Delaware to a 35-21 victory over #18/21 Rhode Island. It was the first 200+-yard effort by a Blue Hens’ back since 2016. The senior scored on a 35-yard run on Delaware’s opening drive of the game and then helped seal the win by breaking loose for a 74-yard TD with 7:31 to play. The 221 yards is the 3rd-most by an FCS player this season.

CAA Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Chase McGowan, So., DE, Delaware (Stafford, Va./North Stafford)

McGowan recorded four total tackles, 4.0 TFL and 3.0 sacks in Delaware’s 35-21 win at Rhode Island. The three sacks are tied for the third-highest total in Blue Hens’ history and were part of a strong overall defensive effort that included holding the Rams to 221 total yards while forcing a pair of turnovers.
