rocco will get you an average team never really bad but not great time for a change. His defenders on here I guess are happy with 7-8 win's and a win in the playoff''s , boring football. UD plays for National Championship's let's get back to that exciitng type of football rocco can go to New Hampshire he would be a perfect fit there.

It seemed at the time that Rocco was hired to turn the team around. We were NOT heading in the right direction with Brock. We needed a seasoned coach with experience coming in, stopping the bleeding and putting things in place to pull us out of the crash dive.

Rocco was a pretty easy choice. He clearly demonstrated that exact ability at Liberty and then again at Richmond. On paper, he was just what the doctor ordered, and I think the program HAS indeed righted itself a bit. But Who knows? Maybe we could have replaced Brock with a tackling dummy and gotten similar results!

IF the University wants to take the next step, I think this is the right time. I would love to see them hire a young, energetic coach with some fresh ideas - like when they hired Nelson or Raymond or Keeler.

But that's a BIG IF. Someone said it was time for us to become like JMU/NDSU/SHSU. I never got the impression that was a priority for the BOT. The programs they seem to want to emulate are more like Harvard/Yale/Princeton. They are not concerned with Football, but the overall University.

If those ivies are the goal then we should join the PL.

IMHO, saying "thank you" to Danny for stabilizing the program and having a winning record over his 5 year tenure (perhaps with a golden parachute) and then hiring Ryan Carty as the new head coach would be an exciting scenario. In short, DR did some good things, but aspirations have to be higher than where we are now.

True dat- well said! But let’s just finish this season as strongly as possible. Don’t leave our 2021 players behind- they deserve our support! Wayne Hanby Go Blue Hens!

Well, the good news is that in 2001 we were 2-3 after 5 games, which included a 10-7 loss against Rhode Island and an embarrassing 38-7 loss to GSU (who we beat the very next year). Of course, that 2001 team wasn't coming off a national championship in 2000...if fact, under that coach we never earned a national championship during our entire time in the I-AA/FCS subdivision...a drought that lasted over two decades.

Oddly enough, we are coming up on almost two decades since our last, and only, I-AA/FCS championship. Somehow, it doesn't appear that in the next two years our Hens will finish first in the only championship that matters. But I know a future HOF coach with Delaware ties who won twice in the last 20 years...on top of helping Delaware win it's only other on-the-field championship as a player.

Want to talk more about that winner of a guy?

This is where football parodies life in general. Don’t leave folks behind.

My opinion on Rocco....this could be the first season since 1968 that I don't attend at least one UD football game. Granted I have other things going on & I don't miss it nearly as bad as I once thought I would. And if you were wondering I wasn't born yet for the '68 season......

My hot take is.... He's a huge disappointment and a disgrace to all of the Italian-Americans that have been a part of UD tradition :D Kidding!

That being said, let the season play out, root for the Hens, hope they do well and make a decision ASAP after the last game (whenever that may be). I thought they turned the corner during the spring season, unfortunately it was a u-turn back to Boring Football, USA.

Although my thoughts were not real positive I will always root for the Hens regardless of who is coaching. Rocco is our coach and I want him to succeed. I just wish we played an exciting brand of defense. Play to crush the opponent. We seem to play not to lose. That does not excited the players or the fans.
