Hens offer 6’10 235 C Michael Walz 2022 from Berwyn PA. Has offers from Drexel, Stony Brook, Penn St, Richmond, Bucknell, William and Mary, Lehigh, St Joes and La Salle.

Let’s see if the Whitney Center can be a difference maker on the recruiting scene this year for Hens.

Visiting Fordham Monday and Delaware Tuesday. Assuming due to Covid, overnight visits are a thing of the past.

Reilly’s visit to Fordham and Delaware came and went. Haven’t heard of any other visits planned.

Simpson took an official to Rutgers yesterday. He is-supposed to be visiting Delaware soon. Looking at their offer list, have to imagine he had an offer but it’s on hold until Ruthers 3 and 4 star guys commits elsewhere.

No other offers out…at least publicly . I get MI is selective with offers made but 3 offers made with 4 seniors seems pretty light.

3 star 6’7 F Jared Turner 2022 from DC on an unofficial
Visit today. Has a number of offers.

https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/jared-turner
Northeastern with a good pickup today in Turner. He took a visit to UD back in June. Kid had about 15 offers but UD at least officially never offered.

Jerrell Roberson took a visit to JMU recently per their beat writer. Apparently he visited Delaware and Penn as well and will be making a decision soon.

Committed to JMU. The recruiting has been a real
head scratcher. I’m not concerned by lack of commitments at this point but more about the lack of offers or any players being shown interest.

I talk to one guy who has a pretty good pulse on recruiting and who offers who and what teams are showing interest in certain players..,.and he is not hearing Delaware’s name at all.

Even with 4 guys leaving, we return 10 but the glaring hole IMO is Painter and we struck out on Walz(Richmond) and Roberson (JMU)

Dave, I’m not too concerned about this yet but appreciate where you are coming from. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of a big man via the transfer route. Martin may be leaning in to the overall trend on transfers. Pros and cons of course - but less leap of faith than there is making a bet on a 16 year old high school junior. (For the record, I like watching players develop over four years but am also trying to appreciate the changing dynamic).

Also, let’s not forget about the continued development of Carr. He may not be as physically imposing as Painter but his time in the weight room will add to an already promising all around game, in the mold MI likes. My guess is with 15 pounds, he’ll be able to hold his own defensively against CAA bigs.

Just my two cents!

Very different players but for comparison, Novakovich is listed at 230 now and was only 200 as a freshman. I’m sure those same trainers are working to do the same with Carr.

Carr had a tough 1st season adjusting to the physicality and speed of the game even at CAA level. I believe he will settle down this upcoming season. I am still optimistic since he has lots of talent.

But he is no post guy or ever will be even with additional weight which I had hoped he would have added before last season. He would/will get pushed around underneath and really doesn't like contact which many post players enjoy(Painter for one).

I'm concerned JMU may begin to develop a strong bball program in the years to come since they have a nice new facility and a great Football recognition. Oh, don't forget Softball which is now big time?? since there awesome last season with tons of exposure.

I guess MI believes a transfer would be the answer, but hopefully not a one year type. We need continuity. no stress-still early, but your inside info is concerning. Our history under MI hasn't yet changed our lure for ballers!
Keep the faith kick butt go Hens

For a mid-major big man, Carr had a really good freshman year IMO. Yes, you could see his lack of strength come through but most mids are not getting bigs who can play right away and Carr gave us 9 pts, 4 boards, a good A/T ratio and blocked shots. He doesnt need to be 230lbs to be effective but get him to 220 and we have a dirk novitsky lite type player who can score inside.out as well as put the ball on the floor.

Regarding recruiting, I guess the ???'s are what is MI's vision and his thoughts on the guys who haven't played much. Perhaps Carr is our post in 22' and 23'...and he has Davis as his 4 who can play multiple positions. Nelson jr, Arletti, Asamoah and Curtis still have multiple years to play and this years recruiting is not as important as I think it is.

The recruiting period just opened today until Nov 7th where coaches can head out to high schools, in home's etc so maybe we start to see some names show up.
