$1.6M (as an FBS) vs. $400k (as an FCS). $1.2M buys a lot of Cracker Jack for an athletic department.

SMU’s addition to the ACC means the AAC now has an odd number of football members (13).

The AAC is down by one member but in the hunt for the PAC2, but so is the MWC.

After your next home game, it will be interesting if any of you all speak with some heavy hitter donors and see if the Administration is considering FBS or not. Delaware has the second highest vote count. That said they list 3 UMass options including UMass - Delaware.

I think it is due to the new building being planned for the north end zone.

How about Uconn, Umass, Delaware, and one other team like Army? UD has a solid plan is place for more upgrades and is just waiting for the right invitation to a new FBS conference.

The new Prez at Temple has publicly expressed her concerns about the massive amount of red ink in the football program. Another possibility for the MAC?

Football budgets of the current MAC schools.

UConn has a football budget of around $18m
UMass has a football budget of around $11m
Delaware has a football budget of around $7.5m, the last I knew.

Help me with some math here. Last time I saw, the UD athletic budget was somewhere around $40mil.

If we are only spending $7.5m on football, $2.6m on hoops and lest say $2m on women’s hoops. That leaves roughly $28m.

The school sponsors 21 sports. Back out the big 3 and you have 18 sports.

$28m divided amongst 18 teams comes out to roughy $1.6m per team. Are we really spending that on Olympic sports?

What am I missing?

Thanks for the link, DaveB.

Facilities upgrades estimate now up to $100 million? Nagy didn’t give that much, so is that a result of inflation?

Good to hear the BOT is not laughing Rawak out of the room anymore, but the BOT is living proof that the dinosaurs were slow moving creatures.

The article mentions ten of our former peers that have moved up…with the BOT not shutting things down, at least we have hope.

Inflation is an interesting thing. Army was about to break ground on a complete rebuild of one side of their stadium and then pulled the plug and put it on hold as the construction costs had skyrocketed in the past year. When you have these projects that take 1-2 years just to get funding, but then you have inflationary pressures that have such an impact in less than 12 months, it can make for uncomfortable budget discussions.

Good stuff. Getting more and more the impression that Delaware is absolutely moving up - just a question of when and where now.

More good news and evidence of a move most know is and must come. Wake up calls to be going out sooner rather than later.
