Hey guys, glad to see Delaware and Montana playing again. Hopefully it will not be the last time, and we soon join you at the FBS level. Congratulations on the move, by the way.

The game on Saturday should be a good one. I am not as confident as many, including the odds-makers. Certainly the Griz will be favored at home, and Wa-Griz is a difficult place to win. But I know how talented Delaware is, and you're tested by playing in the CAA.

I hope as many of you as possible can make the trip. If you are able, you'll have a terrific time. Please wear your Delaware colors out to the bars and restaurants in town. You likely won't have to buy a beer all weekend. Ignore the few asshats (mostly students) you may encounter. Every fan base has a few of them, unfortunately. Overall though, we pride ourselves on treating our visitors like the guests they are.

I live in the Seattle area but still have my season tickets and get over to games often, so I'm happy to help with any questions or recommendations on where to eat or stay. Missoula (and Montana in general) has absolutely fantastic craft beers. Missoula has a ridiculous number of breweries for a city it's size, and all are good to fantastic. Obviously some great steak places, but there are a number of great (non-chain) restaurants.

While more expensive, I recommend staying closer to campus and downtown as opposed to out on Reserve (west side of town). That is mostly chain hotels and restaurants, and if you stay downtown, everything is walking distance, even the stadium which you can access by walking the river trail. If you do stay out there, Uber into downtown to eat and drink.

Is that from the National Lampoon guide to Missoula. Mr. Chevy? Missoula was a lunch stop for us on a drive to Glacier and another to Couer d'Alene; we like the look and feel of the town and were in awe of the Griz stadium and big M on the side of the hill.

Saw this Posted on AGS …. Not good and compounded by a decimated Blue Hen team and 24,000 strong at night in Montana

In the 9 prior Playoffs that have utilized the 24 Team / 8 Seeds (with home games AND 1 week rests prior), the record of #2 Seeds vs. Unseeded Opponents, in Round 2, is:

#2 Seeds = 9 WINS
Unseeded = 9 L's

The Average Score in these 9 games has been ~41-~17; a margin of victory of ~24 points.

The Griz podcast guys were busting on our Center, Gingrich. Said he stands up high too much and that their DT will push him back and eat him for lunch as their DT will live in our backfield. Griz DL isn’t that big…but their LBs have good size. They like to mix up their 3-3-5 and bring heat from different directions…all contingent on their big DL disrupting the middle and drawing double/triple teams.

Carty needs to pull out some solid coaching Saturday…and the players need to execute at a higher level than they did against nova and Elon. It will be cold and noisy Saturday…and the Griz D has been pretty good at shutting down opponents lately. But, MSU sometimes gets too one-dimensional, so I am not concerned about comparisons with their production. We can beat the Griz…but we can’t do it with a bunch of mistakes.

The Griz have had a share of close games and a stunning loss to a blah team. Carty isn’t going to win this game with a game plan of long pass plays…our QB just won’t have that much time. Move the chains with quick passes to our skill guys…use screens to offset their aggressive pass rush. Run the ball…the Griz did give up yards per carry. Use our TE…he is a threat. And, for goodness sake, design some QB runs…early.

On D…utilize more 4 man fronts…even if it is just for show…keep the Griz guessing where pressure/run-pass blitzes are coming from. They have some receivers that can beat us…so, Rojas…can you make sure someone is covering our wide open middle when our two LBs go crashing down into the LOS?

Play a good game and we can come out with a win. Play stupid ball and we could get blown out. But, we are playing in December.

Laffy had a lot of sacks coming into our game, so we are used to aggressive defenses…and we game plan well.

Your fat boy in the middle better drink some energy boosters and check with his cardiologist because we are going to let him run around in our backfield for the first couple quarters. He’ll get 4-5 sacks and about a dozen tackles for loss (and an ego boost), but nobody his size can keep up that pace for long. By the 3rd quarter we will have your DL right where we want them and it will all start falling apart for you guys. A 45-7 deficit means nothing to us.

I was more focused on their D…although it helps if your O is doing its job.

Montana struggled early with pathetic Butler and division two Ferris State before they found their quarterback and that dude really turned the season around for them just like you said… He’s like 6’4 225 and looks like men against boys at times running the ball

As a Hens fan not excited about this one but will be watching as always hoping for the best.

Not rocket science to beat the Hens.
1. Hens run a small 3 man front that is very susceptible to physical OLs and good run games. Montana checks those boxes. Run for 4 yards per carry every play.
2. When the Hens come up to stop the run the middle of the field always seems to be wide open for the passing game. Even bad passing teams such as Elon were able to light it up. #4 has been picked on all year in the passing game, safeties show promise but are young and still get confused easily.
3. Hens always start slow no matter who they are playing. If you are not up by 3 TDs by the beginning of the second quarter, it will be a game. UD gets better as the game goes on.
4. For the Hens 3rd String Freshman QB. Shaky OL. Top 2 RBs are out. Control the line on D and the o will go nowhere. Hens playmakers cant do much against good teams when the QB is running for his life. Hens are down there fastest RBs and WRs. Don't let the TE get open. Force the Hens to throw the 50/50 ball which is more like a 20/80 ball and a 0 ball against good teams.
5. Hens are terrible in short yardage. Be ready for gadget plays on 3rd and 4th and short. No ability to run for one yard when needed. There is nothing under center in the entire playbook including a QB sneak. Its either going to be a delayed hand off out of the shotgun, short pass, or some poorly executed gadget play in Redzone or short yardage.

If the Hens are going to win OR not get blown out by 40 points.
1. The OL needs to open holes and pass protect for the young QB give the kid room to throw or run. They looked good against bad teams but against the 3 teams we lost against they were not much better than we have been used too. Short passes and QB runs to settle the freshman in.
2. Need to get Yarns open in space if he is playing/heathy. Same for Youngblood, Jojo (if he can gogo), Harvin needs to get on the same page with the QB, Lutz is due for a bit catch.
3. Designed OB runs and the QB given the greenlight to run if nothing is open.
4. Find something in short yardage that works that is not a gadget play or the predictable run out of the shotgun. We have an OL averaging 320lb should be able to push forward for a yard with a basic play. Use the TEs. 2 TE set worked great last week.
5. D needs to not allow the QB to hurt them with his feet. 4 more fronts. Blitzes. QB spy. Press coverage. Maybe Hunter and Brogna in at the same time in the middle to match up with the powerful Oline.
6. Need to come out in the first quarter and make a statement that we can match up and that it is going to be a fight for 60 minutes. Can't go behind 3 Td's in the first quarter.
7. Sound fundamental special teams play. No big returns, blocks, execute makeable field goals.
