Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS
Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

To be fair, there's a reasonable case Carty needs to be replaced as OC.Cluck U wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 10:40 amUhhhh…Warrior Hen wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 8:23 am Both offensive and defensive coordinators need to be replaced!

Carty needs to be replaced as the offensive coordinator or replaced as the head coach.
We need someone dedicated to the overall operation of the team.

Re: Carty?
We all hope and want coach Carty to be successful. However, with what we have seen from the FCS teams over the last 2 years the lack of HC experience shows. We are 20 to 40 ranked FCS team in the upper half of a mediocre CAA, very far away in talent and game day coaching from seriously competing for an FCS championship, let alone conference USA. Carty also doesn't seem to be one to make quick decisive adjustments to address weaknesses. He has some stubbornness. Would Carty have been the HC pick if FBS was inevitable at the time? Our AD has done a great job so far other than in football coach hiring decisions. With the FBS move we are making it is very important she makes an assessment and gets it right. Carty has 2 years to fill in the extra scholarships and increase the talent to an FBS quality roster. This past year if we played a tougher CAA schedule (Richmond, Albany, W@M, Rhode Island) we would have been closer to 4-4 in the CAA rather than 6-2. We probably would not have made the playoffs. IF we played in conf USA/FBS with the roster and scheme we currently have we would have been 2-9. Would we even have beaten Sam Houston? Prob Not.Warrior Hen wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 3:09 pm Carty needs to be replaced as the offensive coordinator or replaced as the head coach.

Re: Carty?
If he's not the HC that can lead your Hens into FBS land, then he needs to be dumped now. Don't waste 3 to 4 years trying to find out if he's the one.
The good news is that his ONE signature win was against a FBS team, Navy. The bad news is that he has no other signature wins, IMO. Not sure what to take from that, LOL.
Oh, the DC needs to go ASAP.

17-9, 2 playoff appearances after a decade of failure. A complete culture change for anyone remotely close to the program. But yet let’s dump him. Where do some of you come up with this stuff??
Re: Carty?
If this team had a General Manager, they'd s@%tcan the DC now, hire an OC to free up Carty to be full-time head coach, and give Carty 3 more years and make a decision if he's FBS material at that time. We will all know by the end of the 2026 season if he can lead a successful transition. I'll keep my fingers crossed for now. We all want success for this team. We have to make like Tammy Wynette and stand by our man through this move up. Of course, if he is FBS material, he'll be getting offers from P5's, like Cignetti did at JMU. That's the new world we're moving into.

17-9 is good??!! Where do you come up with this stuff?? Look at who they beat for those wins.
Playoff appearances?? In a 24 team tournament?? LMFAO. Yeah, celebrate THAT.

Re: Carty?
I agree. And one of the things some of these guys come up with that the Hens were as low as only 40th in the FCS. 40th?? Nothing but sheer idiocy. And on top of that the constant, “probably would have lost to’s”. And on top of that idiocy, a “if we played in CUSA/FBS with the current roster”. My God! Even idiotic hypotheticals should be at least reality based. This is stuff an old poster (who is likely back) couldn’t even come up with to criticize Carty. And for the record. While the program has obviously done a U turn coming out of the lost decade, I believe Carty still has a lot to prove to take the Hens to the next level.Udforever1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 7:29 pm 17-9, 2 playoff appearances after a decade of failure. Re: Carty?
I agree 1000%. Carty has turned the program to an upward trajectory for the first time since KC was here. Now his job is to position UD to be successful as the new kid on the FBS block, which won’t be very easy navigating the two year transition.Udforever1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 7:29 pm 17-9, 2 playoff appearances after a decade of failure. Re: Carty?
Credit to you 79, I had to stop reading that post. But now we also have a poster asking if 17-9 is good after what we dealt with since KC left. Just crazy stuff.Hens79 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 8:54 pmI agree. And one of the things some of these guys come up with that the Hens were as low as only 40th in the FCS. 40th?? But agree with you and Bill. To me, is Carty perfect? Far from it. He and this program have certain things that they really need to get better at. He has his work cut out for him over these next few years. Starts next year with winning, despite it being a transition year. Though I’m sure if we do we’ll hear about the schedule.

This is the best that I have felt about UD Football in a very loooong time.
The future is bright, and I trust our leadership to get things right for the long hall.
