Forever the 3-3-5 skeptic, I'm predicting bad things will happen if we stay in the base defense and don't put tons of pressure on MU QB Robertson and press the edges to push Hawks' rushers to the middle. We've given up so many big off-tackle runs in this formation.

Ohhh, but we have a great* defense.

* That gets absolutely shredded whenever we play a good offense.

You are correct, we need to add pressure.

And we have to tackle. These backs not only have speed but size as well.

Was thinking the same Cluck, except I would change probably to definitely.

Speed magically raises a coaches IQ as the pregame speech gets thrown in the trash

We have been getting more pressure on the quarterback this year in my opinion, and yes, that has to continue on Saturday like right from the first play.

Our defense has depth, and we don’t lose much of anything when our fresh players come in, Monmouth not so much and that’s probably gonna be the difference come the fourth quarter as I have visions of St Fleur taking control and breaking off a long one

Robertson has been making quick reads and getting rid of the ball quickly. That's probably why they have given up so few sacks. I think we need to be more selective in bringing pressure. I think we should show it a lot pre-snap, but back out of it more often than not.

I was never very impressed with Robertson when he was at Maine, but he looks like a different player now. Just shows what a difference scheme and coaching can make (along with supporting cast).

And with Monmouth on the move to win the game against Lafayette, Robertson threw a horrible interception. Honestly, I don’t remember how much pressure he faced on that throw.

Robertson is leading the country in passing stats mostly because of speedy skill players, Maine didn’t really have enough of those. Just throw a quick screen to a running back and watch him rack up 80 yards of passing stats for the QB… any average Coach can call an average play but it’s talent that takes it all the way :D

I saw Monmouth play in Orono a few weeks ago.....they are very athletic and quick! Delaware has to put pressure on their QB....he does not do well out of the pocket.

Here you go BHB

Any Given Saturday

New Jersey obviously had a lot of talent and Carty being a Jersey boy himself, is bringing a lot of Jersey talent to Newark or at least it seems that way
Caribbean Hen, Thank you.

Attila the Hen and Carribean Hen, Rather than trying to frequently bring more pressure should UD play more press coverage so that Robertson won't be able to get the ball off so quickly?

I agree, this is a game were we should have slot of 4 man front sets to take the run away. But I also know that Rojas does not like to do that!

From MUHAWKS ... who is awaiting his access to gohens to be approved. closest thing to a Joe C personality I’ve seen on the net

“The unranked Hawks for some reason are 1.5 favorites against the would be top 10 Hens.. Line opened Del as 1.5 faves and immediately moved”
