Bro, even in games where we win 40 something to 10, years are being shaved off of my life expectancy watching Carty let his QBs snap the ball with 25 seconds left on the play clock.

The chance for injury and for turnovers is so unnecessarily increased, it just drives me nuts. Shorten the freaking game when you're up by three scores in the second half. It's a no-brainer.
Oh, I agree. Very much so.

I told everyone what to expect with Carty…and he’s certainly delivered.

Hey, I am out of town for the Rhody game, but I can probably make the Campbell game. If you are around, I will find you (good, old-fashioned stalker talk, right there) and bring a cooler full of goodies.

That sound you hear? UD professors' heads exploding.
And rightfully so, IMHO. Another nail in the coffin of the Prez. Maybe even worse than providing an office next to his for the wife. :D :D :D
Troof. See…this is why I like rooneyguy. He knows a bit about what’s going on around UD.

UD doesn’t have a revenue problem…they have a spending problem.

But, I will say the GM position might end up paying for itself (unlike many other positions).

Have to say, I not-so-secretly chuckle whenever my professor friends gripe about the salaries of the B-ball and football coaches. They get…perplexed  when I ask them if they have 17,000 people paying to watch their lectures. Next year, I will ask them about the TV revenue they bring in for their classes.

Honest question, because I hear you complain about it in the stands just about every week. Why would we take away play calling from the guy who has the offense averaging 37ppg and 12th in total offense in FCS? Who is here because he won a ring calling plays?

UDdforever1, How did you like Carty's play calling in the Richmond game where he abandoned the run very early and was clearly out coached and ill prepared as was the whole operation? A HC who calls the offensive plays (concentration on the Offense results in neglect of the Defense & Special Teams) is analogous to a lawyer who represents themself and thus has a fool for a client. Yeah, I complain about Carty's play calling probably every week because he make some poor play calls every week.

Stunk. But ah dang, he had a bad game. And has some poor plays every now and then as we have to punt while up 20+. Dang again!

Is Carty perfect? No. Expecting perfection in this sport, really any sport, is crazy though.

Did this position ever get filled? Or was there an internal hire and they just needed to post the position for legal reasons?

Gotcah. I was just curious, because it seems like a pretty important position in today's crazy world of recuiting. I guess the former guy, Brett Arnold moved onto PSU.

Arnold was replaced by Michael Armstrong as Associate AD for Football Operations. Armstrong and Haley Alioto (Assistant Director for Football Operations) report to Jerry O who is currently the Senior Associate AD for Football.
Part of Jerry O's duties are development/ fundraising/alumni relations as well as overseeing football operations.

It appears the new General Manager position is separate from any of the above.

I hope to speak with Jordan Skolnick at some point this off-season to ask about some of the logistical and physical changes / upgrades, etc. that UD will have to make simply because we are moving to FBS, or as requirements of CUSA.

I also hope to ask him about the GM position.

BTW, here is a comment from my earlier post in this thread:

I noticed the following:
“Responsible for the management of the Assistant GM/Director of Player Personnel. Creating clarity and clear responsibilities for their role.”

Does that role currently exist, or will it be added once the GM is on board and has an opportunity to help define that role and interview candidates? I’m guessing the latter. That role would help take some of the workload off the GM.
