CAA field hockey standings with conference records:

Drexel 4-0
Northeastern 3-1
Delaware 3-2
Monmouth 2-2
Hofstra 1-3
William & Mary 1-3
Towson 1-4

I've been trying to game out the playoff scenarios which will be easier after Friday's games. If we finish 4-2 which means beating Drexel, then we are in. If we finish 3-3, depending on who else finishes 3-3, we would hold the tiebreaker against Hofstra and Monmouth but not against NE and W&M.

All but two of our games have been decided by 1 goal including 1 goal losses to 4 top 15 ranked teams. Worse loss was to #19 Iowa by 2 goals. If this team can get into the NCAA (by winning the CAA) we will should be competitive.

Not yet. Some conference candidates: PL seems unlikely since they have no associate members. AE takes associates and only has 7 teams.

The MAC may or may not be an option. JMU is in the MAC and our rowing team recently joined as well.

Could be. MAC has 9 teams and someone on the board learned me that conferences like even numbers of teams:

School
James Madison
App State
Miami
Kent State
Ball State
Longwood
Ohio
Bellarmine
Central Michigan

After Friday CAA results, Hens (who were idle) are now in the playoffs for the CAA title and NCAA tournament berth.

Looks like Monmouth got the fourth slot after beating W&M today. If I had to guess how the CAA playoffs work, I would guess that we play NE and Monmouth gets Drexel who would host as they have the tiebreaker over NE. We play Drexel at 5 today but I don't think that result changes any of the foregoing.

Ladies lose 2-1 to #19 Drexel in double OT.

The good news: we have not lost a game this year by more than one goal. The ladies are right on the edge of winning a lot of games.

The bad news: we have been shut out 3 times, held to only one goal in 8 games, and scored only two goals in 3 games. Of our 17 games, we have only scored more than two goals in three games.

Now 8-9, 3-3 in conference.

Season scores:
0-1
1-0
4-5
4-2
0-1
1-0
1-0
4-0
1-2
2-1
0-1
1-2
1-2
1-2
2-1
2-1
1-2

Our D is playing well. In 16 games of our 17 games, our opponents have not scored more than two goals. The only exception was a 4-5 loss to #16 Penn State.

Last home game tomorrow versus Fairfield (also the last regular season game of the season). 1pm.

Delaware gets the three seed in the tournament and open against Northeastern.

Time to make a run like they have done in the past
