Got a chuckle out of that one, WilliamK. In fairness though, Z was as bumbling as his two predecessors, who were simps forced to gaslight for the big-time-college-athletic-phobe Hullihens and the CEOs they hired to deliver their agendas over several decades.

There is absolutely zero reason the University of Delaware shouldn't have joined I-A in the late 1970s. Zero. Any forwarding thinking board would have moved the school in that direction but, then, we were saddled with a host of personalities from the boardroom to the CEOs to the ADs to the coaches for whom big time college athletics was anathema and not in their own PERSONAL best interests. I'm not going to name names but it doesn't take a genius to figure out the culprits of our thumb sitting. Yes, legendary figures who did so much to elevate UD football and athletics in general from the 1950s-1970s became serious detriments to our growth in their later years. There's another legacy from the early 2000s until 2024 that was the sad carry over.

There's a book there to be written there. It would be a doozy.

Agree. There will always be FCS schools looking to escape.

La. Tech officially accepted the invitation to join the Sun Belt Conference this afternoon. However, it appears they could stay as a member of CUSA thru the 26-27 academic year. Bit surprised they are staying beyond this season.

If that's true, it tells me: 1) LA Tech can't afford the buyout, and/or 2) the Sun Belt isn't pitching in to help them with buyout dollar$ or otherwise lowering the cost of their entry fee.

So, below is part of an email sent out to the media today by Ed LeFurge, which includes the info about the “watch list” for 5 players from each school mentioned in the link from Caldwell Chicken. This just emphasizes the information previously discussed on the board that UD has the toughest schedule in the league this year. Of the four teams listed below UD, only MTSU is on our schedule.
Of course, as with any pre-season polls or rankings, it all has to be taken with a grain of salt.

“New for the league this season is the CUSA Bowl Confidence Index, a ranking in which the percentage indicates the likelihood of the school making a bowl game, as voted on by the league's 12 head coaches. Delaware was given a 29.17 percent chance to be bowl eligible.

School (Percentage)
Liberty (100.00%)
WKU (100.00%)
Jax State (91.67%)
LA Tech (75.00%)
Sam Houston (45.83%)
UTEP (41.67%)
FIU (37.50%)
Delaware (29.17%)
MTSU (25.00%)
NM State (25.00%)
Kennesaw State (16.67%)
Missouri State (12.50%) “

I would say if the Hens live up to the expectations above, its been a good first year. A couple upsets here or there and it could be a fantastic first year.

I think it’s for a huge donation being promised to the university to fund new construction. It’s not to announce a move to FBS.

Published reports by National Media state CUSA is staying at TEN.

Even IF adding (which CUSA is NOT)--this school is Not near top of list.

*********************************************************************************************
My prediction is either they are moving to a New FCS conference-recently formed.

OR as stated above a major donation.
