Reviewing last year’s baseball roster, there were no players from the Deep South on the roster. Seems like we should be looking at Florida, Georgia, Carolinas, Alabama, Texas, etc. at least for a few players.
Personally I think there are plenty of players in Delaware’s footprint they can recruit to be more than competitive. Sorry but just saying we should recruit from the south more is kinda lazy. Now if you said we should recruit Puerto Rico or Latin America that would be intriguing
Yes it would, but I must say not many kids playing baseball in Puerto Rico anymore when compared to its heyday.
The talent coming off the Isla has dropped considerably over the past 20 years or so
Why? Because MLB took away their International status meaning no more bonus baby signings.
They have to get drafted now and it’s just not motivating kids to play.
However, you head 60 miles across the Mona Pass to the Dominican Republic you will find youngsters more motivated than ever play baseball
Why? it is their way out of a lifetime of poverty as their is very little government assistance available.
Almost 50 % of Puerto Rican kids are spoiled by government assistance that has a way of encouraging them to basically do nothing. They call it the “lifestyle”
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

At least two Delaware high schoolers have committed to UD - Joaquin Rodriguez Costa, a 6'6" first baseman from Sussex Central, and Jude Swift, a catcher from Salesianum. Two of the best schoolboy pitchers, Kelly from SC and Wardell from Conrad, have committed to Maryland, and the player of the year, Mitchell from Cape Henlopen, has signed with Kentucky.
Mitchell will most likely be drafted tonight or tomorrow in the mlb draft. One of the better high school hitters I’ve seen. Really good kid too.

One of the better baseball programs in CUSA, Dallas Baptist leaving for the PAC-12 after next season. UD will only see them one year in CUSA.
Will Baseball be the only PAC 12 sport for Dallas Baptist in 2027?
