2026 Baseball

Schedule hasn’t been released yet, but heard today that the Hens will play a 3 game series at Mississippi State. The Bulldogs won a national championship in 2021.

Lot of new players offensively this year and fairly inexperienced pitching staff. Should be an interesting first year in CUSA.

Hens have picked up commitments this week from two pitchers for the class of 2026 that were originally committed to P4 programs. AJ Saccento who was a verbal to Duke, and Tim Dougherty, who was verbaled to West Virginia.

Even though they are two of the closest Division 1 schools to Newark, Navy and Villanova once again are not on the schedule for some unexplained reason. Navy has not been a regular season opponent for at least 50 years, with just a couple of exceptions. The bus regularly drives further south to the D.C. area schools but won’t stop in Annapolis. We used to play Villanova regularly but now go routinely go further to Rider, Rutgers, Lehigh, and Lafayette, even though the Wildcats were supposedly a rival on the gridiron.

I've heard rumors that because we can never beat Villanova ever, the athletic department does not allow them on our schedule

Football (We all know how that goes)
MBB - 0-16 ( but I'll give them a break)
MLAX - 11-15 including 5 game losing streak

Our women's sports have a pretty decent record against them though, maybe it's just a football men's lacrosse problem
