Rory Finn made 37 starts last year as a freshman. He is on the roster this year but has not yet appeared in a game. I presume he is injured. Anyone know his status?

Well any hopes that we had somehow found our footing in terms of avoiding excessive walks, HBPs, and wild pitches, are completely out the window. Thru 4 innings at home vs Maryland, we have given up 5 runs, all earned mind you, on only 3 hits. However, 8 walks, 2 HBPs, and 2 wild pitches, have once again been our demise. To this point, the Terp's only extra base hit is a double that came during an inning that we didn't allow any runs. They scored 2 runs in the first inning without a single hit. And of the 5 runs given up thus far, 4 reached base by either a walk or HBP.

I cannot answer your question about his status, but I remember seeing him early last year against FIU and thinking he looked like a hitter….

We lost to Maryland both times because of the free passes. We stood 278 out of 300 D1 teams in walks allowed per 9 innings before this latest walkathon against the Terps. The coaches should identify the pitchers that can throw strikes instead of randomly pod pitching almost every pitcher on the staff 3 innings.

Hens get two run rule victories over a bad Canisius team after dropping the first one Friday. At Penn for a mid week and then CUSA play starts next weekend at La Tech.

The team is getting wins but still walking a lot of batters. Since March they have walked 5, 11, 1, 5, 5 & 6. They have 110 walks, 20 wild pitches & 21 HBP on the year already. I will take the wins but they need to have 2-3 walks at most during the game. They are just getting lucky that the walks are hurting them more.

Yep. We are ranked 279th out of 300 teams in walks allowed per 9 innings at roughly 9.2. Obviously we can compete and win a few games against Rider and Canisius with these kind of numbers, but I doubt we can make any kind of noise in C-USA unless we cut the walks allowed in half.

Another weekend, another set of games where walks are in abundance.

I’m wondering is it all on the pitchers or the staff not calling a great game or both

3 wild pitches? Holy smokes...that is nowhere near the plate.

In no way am I defending our performance, but even after one weekend it’s pretty clear, and stating the obvious, that we are going to have to up our game big time in CUSA. Same thing with softball. This is just a flat out better conference and we need more talent. CUSA last year finished 6th in conference RPI. CAA 13th. This year, and it’s early, CUSA is 9th while CAA is 24th. One college baseball site has a mid major poll. There are 4 CUSA teams in it. No CAA. Just a lot of good programs in this conference.

No favors in the CUSA schedule this week as Dallas Baptist comes to town.
