Three of the best pitchers on the roster - Velasquez, Greenly, and Gubitosi - did not play in the fall. Are they expected to be ready in the spring?

At the BH Touchdown Club meeting last week, Coach Mamula expressed high hopes for Tyler August, a freshman and son of former Hen Brian August. He has a 98 mph fastball and received offers from “everybody”.

Having coached against him, he’s the real deal. Good kid. Pretty much could have gone anywhere he wanted.

I hope they preserve his arm some so he can avoid TJ.

So many pitchers from UD have had to get TJ (Sullivan, Kuhl and others Im forgetting).

Those two Feb games could be freezing and disaster like! Keep the kids in the south as long as possible

August seems to have as much potential as Billy Sullivan. Unfortunately, Sullivan only pitched at UD his freshman year. Covid and elbow surgery robbed the UD baseball team of having a dominant pitcher after his freshman year, as he was drafted after his third year. His fastball hit 100 mph in practice, and it looks like he has major league potential. If August can hit like his father, he might be a two way player at Delaware.

While not fielding a football team, Dallas Baptist is in Conference USA for baseball and will pose a formidable foe for the Blue Hens each year. Last year, DBU was 45–14 and one of five programs in the nation that played in its ninth consecutive NCAA Division I baseball tournament. The Patriots finished the regular season at number eighteen in D1Baseball.com’s rankings,

They are a very solid program. CUSA is probably one of the only sports where it’s not much of an upgrade, if at all, over the CAA. Especially with the addition of Campbell. But still some very solid teams.

I think we should be hoping we are a formidable foe for them!!! We are barley ranked 18th in the CAA

Maybe it's me???

Tyler August has already been invited to play in the Cape Cod Summer League next summer. It’s the premier collegiate summer league in the country, invite only.

It’s a fantastic honor. They have two other guys signed to play in the Cape Cod as well. They’ll be announced at a later date.

After being named the PGCBL player of the year this summer, it looks like Andrew Amato will be in playing with the Keene Swampbats in the Cape Cod League in the summer of 2024.
