What happens after Montana? Do we pile up the excuses or realistically evaluate our future?

I will be interested in watching Montana's 3-3-5 defense. Their defense is made up of very average sized players. Let's see how the different defensive coordinators utilize their personel. My guess is it will be a lesson for Manny to follow.

I can't speak for anyone else but I loved the Lafayette win but still am not sure what kind of a program we currently have yet. Better then it was a couple of years ago? Sure but that's not saying much. Also don't know why realistic opinions/ discussions, which often can be negative at times are such a problem for some . We'll see after tomorrow how honest our posters are. On to the airport !

We’ll never know what the outcome would have been if Lafayette’s starting QB didn’t go down but let’s not forget Delaware was without their top two QBs, without their top two RBs for most of the game, without a starting OG, without a starting WR, without our top kickoff returner and a key WR, without their best CB, and without a couple of other secondary players for much of the game. This isn’t to make excuses but if you’re going to acknowledge the importance of Lafayette losing their starting QB, you should at least acknowledge the significant injuries Delaware had. Also, this Lafayette team was considerably better than what we have seen in the past. After all , this Lafayette team beat Holy Cross, a team some on here believed was better than Delaware and we did it with a true freshman at QB and three true freshmen in the secondary for a significant portion of the game.

Good point...and our starting TE went out after the first play of the game picking uo 11 yards and our starting CB was out for good a couple games ago..the list goes on so its part of the game.

Saying things like, “this team is as good as Rocco’s worst team” and “the program is in decline” isn’t a realistic opinion, it’s just wrong. What is realistic is that it’s tough, as you previously alluded to, to get a read on this team right now due to all the injuries. That’s not an excuse, that’s reality.

What I do know is that despite being down so many starters, we’re 9-3 with a playoff win. Program in decline? Hardly.

Safe travels.

Pard, your guys played great. You have every reason to be pleased with your team's effort. I was certainly impressed.

But, you lost. We are moving "On to Montana".

We wish you and your fine college success, going forward.

Peace

Even with all the injuries and the distractions, The Montana game seems more winnable than South Dakota State game last year, like we have a punchers chance to at least to stay in the game. It’s a shame we can’t be healthy for this game and I have no issues crying about it.

last year, Southeastern Missouri St played at Montana in a playoff game. They came out very strong early but eventually folded late. This game gives me some hope.

I also remember the CAA champion William & Mary going out to Montana State and getting brutalized last year on a frozen tarmac …. Hopefully, it won’t snowball on the Hens like this game did for the Tribe.

And finally something from this year
Montana beat up Montana State a few weeks ago so the only thing I really know is don’t bet on this game

Of course it’s part of the game, but my point is that some Delaware fans, not you, take every opportunity they can to denigrate Delaware’s team because they only beat a Patriot League team by two points and don’t give our team any credit for beating a good team or because Lafayette lost their starting QB for part of the game. Perspective is needed.

I like to kid about the FCS being "Little League", etc., but that characterization does not apply to the Montana Brown Bears. They've run a first-class, D-I operation for nearly 30 years. The fact that they didn't reclassify 20 years ago is an anomaly that can only be chalked up to UM's remote geography and lack of opportunity in the Mountain West region.

Obviously, Saturday evening is going to be a very difficult challenge for the Blue & Yellow, who, as you indicated, are walking wounded (but not undeterred!) into this game. As always, play along both sides of the line and turnovers will dictate how the game goes. Both teams have very capable skill players, with the home team getting the edge due to all of the Hen injuries.

It'll be interesting to see how Carty's team responds. I'll enjoy the game regardless and root for Saturday's winner to win the whole damn thing.

You disagree that the Hens made the playoffs well before your QB went down?

Did you lose another QB during the regular season?
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS
