Amazing, isn’t it?

Anyone remember someone defending the Brocco twins…even when it was obvious they were not the solution…for losing games we should have won? No criticism allowed…we were too busy building a program. 4-5 years and we would be back to our program winning (in a bad conference) ways. Experts talking.

Turns out that changing names is like putting lipstick on a pig.

The good news is that the people in charge don’t pay any attention to bitter old men. They just smile, politely and roll their eyes as they walk away.

Delaware at Colorado. Thank you, Chrissi. Should be a fun trip and a good way to spread the Delaware name. 👍
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

We heard all the excuses. But now, no excuses allowed. Odd how that is.

Anyway, really excited about this. And just shows the interest level rising for UD football. Right after it was announced, had a buddy text me who hasn’t been to a game since 2007 tell me that he really wants to go to this game. I don’t think he will have the same reaction when the @Bryant game is announced for next year.

Agree. Enthusiasm tempered with a bit of reality might be an approach that won't lead to maximum disappointment.

2025 is one season away. We'll need to turn over our roster to challenge CUSA opponents, let alone the Buffs. We'll get there for sure, though expecting to beat Big 12 opponents in early 2025 might be a bit of a tall order.
Goldy, not to throw cold water on the Rocky Mountain high
but the bottom half of CUSA just ain’t that good. Many FCS teams could handle them.

Ask Bryant and Maine, Miami is good but FIU stinks just like Bryant and Maine.

Yes indeed we need to turn over that roster.

CUSA is much more interesting than the Mac, that’s for sure.

Any given Saturday. Remember, several of our CAA brethren lost to quite a few MEAC teams this year. And the Patriot league has taken CAA scalps, including mighty JMU.

It is staggering and embarrassing. But it has been who this bitter now old dude has been for years.

You would think that anyone with any sense of shame would just be quiet after being so wrong for so long …. But ……..

Anyway, so far so great on the move to CUSA and FBS.

Sure there will bumps in the road but there won’t be home games with Bryant, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T, Hampton and Campbell.

With FIU it’s more like …. it’s a given on Saturday..

Miami is fun, might be hard to pull yourself into the game you’ll be having so much fun on Biscayne Bay… lots of boating … South Beach 🏖️… just pull up a chair and keep one eye on the game because your other eye definitely won’t be “eyes in the boat” place is smokin hot and I’m not talking about the weather

You'll get no argument from me about the bottom half of CUSA not being super-competitive from year-to-year, but isn't that why those teams were at the bottom?

By '25, we HOPE the Hens can excel beyond the fray, but it surely isn't a given as of 12/20/23. I'm anxious and past ready to see us DEVELOP a consistently solid FBS program. It's not just going to happen by showing up. Let's see what '24 brings during the transition period. It's exciting to ponder.

BTW, I think the cheese might have fallen off your Ritz when you produced the "many FCS teams" characterization. There were more than 200 ball games played between FCS and FBS over the last two years. How many resulted in wins for the lower division? Less than 10%?

Bottom half of the CAA ain't special either and Coach is undefeated against Stony, New Hamp, NC A&T, Hampton, Towson, Campbell. Monmouth & URI. Winless against Villanova, Richmond, Elon & W& M. . We need to go out with a vengeance!

No doubt the overall quality of FCS is down

Actually there is a thread on here somewhere, I think FCS only won 4 or 5 games against FBS this year. It should also be noted the best FCS teams have trouble finding FBS teams that will play them. The Bison and Jack a lopes didn’t play FBS teams this year and it wasn't for lack of trying

There is a big divide within FCS itself and spitballing here, I would say half of FCS is just horrible. Or maybe about 25 FCS teams need to get into G5 is another way to look at it

Hopefully we will get a G5 playoff once the everything shakes out

Been to that area many times. :D

Key Biscayne Race Week is awesome! Bummed that a restaurant called Big Mama’s doesn’t seem to be around anymore…best garlic bread evah!!!!…although the passengers next to me on the plane probably didn’t appreciate. That race is a classic that basically rolls into Key West Race week…which rolls directly into the Wreckers Cup races - which we won…a great story that involved lots of drinking (a staple in sailing and just about anything fun…because what great story starts with eating a salad?).

Definitely going to have to find a way to get back down there for a Hens game and a sail.

Possible, right? So long as there's sufficient fan, media, and sponsorship interest and money to be made for the schools, a 5 or 6-team G5 tournament with bowl tie-ins could be compelling.

Heard yet another interesting case made for this on a Sirius XM College football show today. Sure seems to make alot of sense and could further increase the interest in the G5 teams

Up until a few weeks ago if someone mentioned G5, I would of thought Global economic summit … I’m behind the curve big time … haven’t watched FBS game for years and don’t feel like I’ve missed a thing

But Times change and so can I

Pretty exciting stuff, recruiting, recruiting, recruiting will key. RC has done a great job in New Jersey, now persuade some of those 4-5ish stars to come down to Newark.

Win or lose, this was a smart schedule move. It demonstrates to recruits UD is for real on moving up. Come play for the Blue Hens guys. We have a new outlook and you can get challenge and exposure.
