That was an impressive performance. Maybe one that turns the season around. True freshman, Cherisier, plays and talks like a team leader.

My faith was restored a bit today.

Another frustrating loss to W&M in which the team that was coached better (not necessarily more talented) won the game. Just saying.

It's difficult for your best offensive players to score when they are sitting on the bench -- particularly during crunch time.

Now that Elena's playing days are coming to an end, has she ever indicated a desire to coach? I think she would be great especially at recruiting.

good point, I agree- but would she is the question?

The women's game last night was another deja vu-the disparity in stats strikingly reflects the feel of the game and the entire season up to this date. Our FG%s are almost shocking.

As the second half began, it dawned upon me how poorly we appear to come out of the locker room both in the 1st and 3rd quarters. So I decided this morning to check if my recall was accurate. It was uncanny how often this pattern took place for our games. Many bball followers believe that it is at these times that the quality of coaching preparation and strategy can be observed and evaluated. The coach should be most able to affect the players performance and team strategy versus the opponent coming out of the locker room. It should be noted that at critical times during the game this is true as well, but the pressure of the game makes it more difficult to get them to absorb and process advice information.

Jenkins up to this point has failed to address the same issues as last season though the TOs at times have improved. One of our posters here has noted, and I have observed, that our box scores seem to be not fully accurate   I continue to watch the games though the outcomes are generally not in doubt. The strange fact is that we have enough talent( her recruiting appears decent) to potentially win the CAA auto bid if we click at the right moment. League parity and the level of play are relatively easy to view. It's not that different from the men except for a higher level of performance.

I wonder if it isn't best at the conclusion of the season to CR cut(our) her losses(NPI) and move on. Sorta like a poker game which I'm sure many of us have experienced. I'm aware of the financial crisis as described in the Review, but winning might fill some seats, sell some popcorn, and attract stronger recruits. EDD would be perfect!

I highly doubt Jenkins is getting fired after year two, despite how disastrous this season has been. Similar to how Adair didn’t get fired after a 12-17 record in year 3. Now Jenkins didn’t have a decent first year like Adair did, though Adair taking her best returning player and entire recruiting class didn’t help.

There are a lot of red flags, though like you said it does on paper appear she can recruit a bit with the high school recruits she’s gotten both this year and has coming in next. I’m sure she’ll get a nice talking to in her exit meeting this off season, and next year will be about as important as it gets for her.

Most of us love Elena and what she did for UD women's basketball but, as far as I know, she has no experience in coaching at the collegiate level. Being a great player does not always lead to being a good coach. Just saying.

What struck me was how we kept trying to shoot 3's, finishing 3 for 22. We were punishing them inside with scoring and getting fouled. Their top scorer fouled out early. So in the end behind by 4 but with time to get 2 then foul what do we do? Another missed 3. The team has talent but at times appears disorganized and misguided.

Although, I’m certainly disappointed in the year we are having, I think it’s premature to remove Jenkins. Considering she lost the top five scorers on the team, top three rebounders, and top point guard for her first year, plus lost the entire recruiting class after Adair left, she had a respectable first year, 16-14 (9-9). Her first real recruiting class was last year and at least on paper was a solid class. Their first year has not gone as well as I hoped but their top guard recruit was injured for a significant portion of the season and is still struggling to acclimate to the college game. Cherisier is starting to play well and Howard seems to be playing better.

For this year, she lost three of her top four scorers and her top two rebounders. I believe Pippin was a very underrated player and has been sorely missed this year. The loss of Pippin has also likely affected Sconiers game as well since her overall numbers have decreased this year. There is some talent on this team but they are very inconsistent which has been frustrating. I don’t know if Ojo has been injured a lot this year but I was counting on her contributing a lot more this year. Our defense has dropped off this year, with her opponents being held to 64.7 points per game last year compared to 68.0 points per game this year. Our rebounding margin and blocks per game this year have also declined which in part is likely due to the loss of Pippin and the absence of Ojo for much of the year.

Jenkins’ incoming class appears to be solid and I would expect to see improvement next year. Our point guard play, rebounding, defense, and 3-point shooting needs to improve significantly next year.

The circus that WBB appears to be continues at Monmouth ( a better team). Shooting 35% from the floor and 40% from the foul line in 1st half. Add in the bewildering substitutions by the coach and it isn't varsity level basketball.

How can the UD Women's basketball team be only 3-6 at Home and 1-3 on Neutral courts, but 4-5 Away?

Lady Hens pull out a gutsy win (71-67). After being behind almost the entire game and down double digits, they battled back to take the lead with less than four minutes remaining in the game and held on for the victory. This team is frustrating to watch at times but they never give up which is an admirable trait. They did the same thing in the W&M game too but just fell short at the end.
