I'd like to believe that we can do better than UCONN for a new rivalry. There are many more geographically appealing rivals with the potential to fill the void of Villanova though we should attempt to retain/schedule V if it "fits" our needs. Actually teams like Temple, Maryland, or Rutgers would be ideal though possibly difficult to schedule annually for a number of reasons. If we prove our worth over the next few years with our quality of play and greater seating capacity, hey, quien sabe?

Definitely has a sour taste in his mouth. Clown says all UD fans think we are football royalty and consider ourselves up there with Penn State’s pedigree. 😂
well, there is a bit of arrogance that comes through on this board with regards to who our peers are etc. that's not made up....
Hardly the norm…and certainly not on par with thinking we are in Penn State football pedigree territory.

The guy’s rant went a bit further than that. Apparently, we fans think…”no joke…that everyone else is beneath them in the East”…and that “everyone needs to bow down to them with their pedigree and their championships.”

Mind you, this guy played in the late 90’s. We were zero-for-20+ years in FCS when Tubby retired in 2021, and only 1-for-20+ years since then. nova, Richmond, JMU, UMass have all won the national title…so we haven’t been a beast in the east for quite a long time.

The guy is still pissed about getting screwed by Tubby. At least he admits it. The rest is just sour grapes and him profiling Hens fans because of his bad experience.

Their fan web site has several folks who have enjoyed their visits to Newark. Plenty of positive feedback about Delaware’s stadium and fans.

Good job, Hens fans! :D
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

Thank you for putting it so eloquently .... I have been alluding to that gingerly for years.

Not looking backwards much anymore, and surely won’t after this 2024 season. But “our peers” certainly are not Hampton, NC A&T, Monmouth and Bryant. I hope we can agree on that.

UConn the new Nova like rival?

I’m not sure if I should laugh or cry at that comment

but then again some of our recent coaches had no clue about the rivalry and generally our players understanding of the rivalry is questionable at best

so who knows

Love to see Temple replace Nova. UMD would also be nice, if UD could get a 2 Road & 1 Home deal set up.

Didn't VT do that with ODU?

They currently have a 13 game series going on, with 6 scheduled at ODU. Though there’s been rumors that VA Tech may buy out the ODU home games from what I’ve seen due to the ACC not wanting any of their teams to play G5 road games.

This is also another potential twist, and why we could not get certain schools to come here even on two for one because their conference won’t even allow it.

The ACC is only hurting themselves for doing that... They are not SEC or B10, other conference will grow past them someday like the Big12.

Why does it feel like G5 (whatever that is) is being treated like the old 1-AA ?

Just look at your new back to the Future Conference … that’s probably a big part of it

Louisiana Tech
Jacksonville St
Sam Houston St
Liberty
Western Kentucky
Middle Tennessee State
Florida International

FCS/1AA super conference

Hopefully we get rescued from the lifeboat quickly and get into something else like east coast conference many on here have alluded to……. And dominate it

Are Colorado & Wake Forest coming to UD? IMO UD should not be playing Colorado & Wake Forest in the same season. Please, no more than one game against a Power 5 conference opponent per season.

Not all Power 5 conference teams are created equal. This isn't like we're playing Michigan and Alabama in the same season. Perfectly fine with this setup, this is why we're moving up, to play teams like Colorado and Wake. Start getting these teams into Newark and we'll be where we want to be.

Yes, for UD, entering the G5 late is just the same as when they entered 1AA late. The choice could not be made until it was virtually impossible not to make it. And it is to have our place in the 2nd tier of football. This has been obvious from the beginning. But, at least, UD is there now so the need is to recruit, recruit and recruit some more to become competitive.

Yes, can you imagine if we stayed in CAA/ FCS? Treated like Div. 2
This regional east coast conference dream persists. The only remaining true regional FBS conference is the MAC.
