Softball Field Renovation

Post by UDFootballFan »

The press release today:

https://bluehens.com/news/2024/6/28/uni ... renovation

The project will significantly enhance the experience for student-athletes, coaches, staff, fans, and the community. Included in the project will be the installation of AstroTurf Diamond Series, that will allow for more durability and ability to play in poor weather conditions, larger, heated dugouts, expanded grandstands for increased fan capacity, an expanded press box with the installation of an HVAC system, a new video board, and a concession and restroom building to located between the softball field and Fred Rullo Stadium.

This is in addition to the perm lights that were installed this year.

What I also find interesting is not mention of cost or who is paying/paid for this.

We have a softball team?

J/k

I was talking with a UD softball player the other day. Fun chat…well spoken, bright, friendly…enthusiastic about the future. Just finished her freshman year.

I will repeat myself…I am very proud of our student athletes. I have been lucky enough to meet with a lot of them over the past several years and, with one exception, I have been impressed with them as human beings. We all enjoy watching winning teams, but it is also important (at least for me) that our student athletes are people that are excellent representatives of our university and community and that they will have a positive impact on the those around them.

Kudos to our coaches for consistently finding such gems.
