College Football Super League

An interesting proposal: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/580968 ... d=14866066

Would love it if Hens end up where this places us.

That would be terrific for football and Delaware particularly. I realize it's conceptual, but I find it odd that ODU wouldn't be grouped with JMU and UD.

They left out Army and I agree with ODU... I think should be with the East.

Air Force is also absent. I don't see how the service academies would compete favorably with the Bigs. They don't have the attendance and revenue to match them. They would seem to fit better competitively in Delaware's tier, in which case Navy and Army could slide into our divisional split.

Army and Air Force are mentioned in the "play up" notation.

Good catch there in the small print.

Not sure why or how any of the service academies would be included in relegation discussions. They simply aren't that competitive and will increasingly be less likely to be on equal footing with P5'ers, given the trajectory of D-I football economics.

Might two games back to back if they both make the AAC title game. Still plenty of football to be played, though, it's only the first weekend of October.

Why does UD's proposed conference have only 6 teams listed? It is supposed to be a total of 8 regional groupings at the non-Power level, each consisting of 8 teams, for a total of 64 teams. Navy, Army, and Air Force in/or playing up every season in the Power group?

Additionally, the proposal includes a plan to eliminate all power conference games against Group of Five and FCS opponents in order to schedule more games that pit power conference opponents against one another. Perhaps more importantly, media rights of the 70 schools that are involved in the super league would be consolidated.

Probably leaving a placeholder for our good friends on the Main Line in case they feel left out.
