tenn hen wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 10:22 am Very interested to see the game today and looking for improvement against a decent team. I'd like a dominant performance today to feel good about our program as we move to FBS status next season-would be nice :D
So I checked RI's record(8-1). nice -ranked #13 -nice-
checked their opponents - not much-simply cup cakes other than one solid team Minnesota(6-3)-good for them to schedule an FBS opponent-nice-though they were butchered 46-0- ugh-
RI has played only 2 FCS teams with a winning record(both 5-4) not good- Massey rankings NH#24, Hampton#61- yuck- UD#10-nice- so= viewing their or most game scores is a questionable practice since matchups play a big factor in how games play out, but Hampton's 46-44 win in OT over them is ????? so- I peeked at Hampton's scores-variable performances both + and - ??

OTOH- Rhody played a questionable #11 Villanova team last week and lost by 6. hmm! so I expect a barn burner with homefield advantage to be a significant factor for our guys. How is the attendance prediction? weather at present for the tailgaters?

conclusion= Rollover the Rams and move along to #72 Campbell next week-NO, I hereby promise not to write up another set of mixed stats to drive all of us nuts
Don't believe Vilanove played RI.
You are, of course, correct.

On a positive note, I talked to two young male Delaware students at Grain on the Rocks in Lewes. They follow Delaware Football and like that the students are able to let loose tailgating at the games without fear of being harassed by UD police. They've been to most of the home games and actually have gone into the stadium, not just party in the lots. They were also excited about the move to C-USA and were talking about how Delaware will be playing "big time schools" now. So there is some excitement amongst the younger folk and that made me hopeful for the future.

AGAINST WHO ???

Carty's sterling 24-10 record includes 14 CAA wins against:
Albany
Campbell
Hampton (x2)
Maine
Monmouth (x2)
NC A&T (x2)
New Hampshire
Rhode Island
Stony Brook
Towson (x2)

He's never beat Richmond (x2), W&M, Villanova (x2), or Elon(x2).
He's 0-7 against these 4 upper-echelon CAA teams.

His other 10 victories include OOC "stalwarts":
Bryant
Delaware State
Duquense
Lafayette (this at least was a first round playoff win)
Morgan State
Navy (only really good win in the bunch if you ask me)
Penn
Sacred Heart
Saint Francis (x2)
Be careful of the words you say,
keep them soft and sweet.
You never know from day to day
which ones you'll have to eat!

It's a dangerous game to start digging deep into coaching victories, judging opponents, etc.

How many West Chester, Gettysburg, Merchant Marine wins did Tubby end up with?

Enjoy the wins as they come.

I'll balance them against wins over Temple, Rutgers, Nova and Navy any day
