“What pissed me off about all this is that myself and multiple other guys on our team were getting tampered with, having six-figure deals thrown at us and we’d tell our coaches about it, and they would say, ‘no, stay at SDSU, be loyal to the program, it’s not about the money,’” Christensen stated. “But the same ones telling you to stay, now that they’ve left for more money, now all of that is out of the window and they’re telling you to leave. I’m sure in terms of their side of things, they’re thinking this is how everyone's doing it, so we need to do it too — but it’s still ridiculous.”

Trey Lance’s brother Bryce Lance is one hell of a WR for NDSU. He is really talented and surely has NFL ambitions. He probably likes money too. Will be interesting to see if he stays with NDSU. He did stay long enough to play in the FSC NC game.

The hypocrisy of the coaching staff (after encouraging players to stay loyal to SDSU last year, and now those same staff members are encouraging them to leave SDSU and follow the staff to WSU) is hilarious.
Kinda' reminds me of some UD fans who are insisting that the Big Schools not pull up the ladder on the lower tier of FBS right after insisting that UD leave behind those lower tier FCS teams that were dragging us down.

All I want for Christmas is a 2025 Bowl game for our Hens.
Re: Easy money?
As most everyone has already suggested, the wheels would have to completely fall off for Carty to be gone in 2 years. MI clearly has the shorter leash.

I'm going to be a contrarian and say it is more likely Carty will get extended than fired!

Re: Easy money?
I agree I don’t think Carty will be gone, sure he’s struggled against Villanova and some other schools but overall I think he’s done a great job. I’ve seen differing opinions but I’m not upset at all with the contract extension. Who else would be a better choice to lead Delaware into the FBS era? Even before the Keeler hire at Temple, him coming back was never a realistic option even though some people advocated for it. Carty is a Keeler protege, former player and actually cares about the school. At the FCS and Group of Five level, it can be hard to find a coach who actually cares about the university and isn’t just using the program as a stepping stone to a bigger opportunity. Let’s say Carty does amazing and I hope he does, maybe he would get bigger offers at the P4 level and maybe he would accept one, but I at least think he’d think long and hard before leaving the school he seemingly loves. I don’t think the same could be said for other former UD coaches like Brock and Rocco, who would have left in a heartbeat in my opinion had they succeeded at Delaware.
As for Ingelsby, obviously I hope he succeeds but the basketball program seems to be stagnant at this point. The argument could be made that the CAA is a tougher basketball conference than CUSA however so maybe he’ll find more success in CUSA.

Re: Easy money?
Not for men's basketball it isn't - this season or historically. CUSA is an improvement by scale for both football AND men's hoops. Both Carty and Inglesby will have to up their games, as we used to say on the Porky Oliver links.DPmugmember96 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 3:03 amThe argument could be made that the CAA is a tougher basketball conference than CUSA however so maybe he’ll find more success in CUSA.

Re: Easy money?
The past couple seasons yes CUSA has been a better basketball conference but as recently as 2016-2017 CAA was better. But with conference re-alignment and NIL and everything, that’s currently no longer the case. Either way it’s an uphill battle for both football and basketball but I think football is positioned better for success.

Re: Easy money?
In many ways that is true, he knows it’s about talent and seems to bleed Blue and Gold but their was just something special about KC… he walks the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach and probably still gets stopped for autographs and despite his ego, he seems very approachable.DPmugmember96 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 3:03 amI agree I don’t think Carty will be gone, sure he’s struggled against Villanova and some other schools but overall I think he’s done a great job. I’m not sure Carty has that same aura. Despite that, he can still be very successful at Delaware and that’s all that really matters

Re: Easy money?
the "aura" thing is a spot on comment- name, face recognition goes a long way in today's society. Yep, KC, Saban, Reid- not on equal status BAM-I don't ever see RC gaining that special attribute-unless we jump the moon asap-jmo.
Keep the faith kick butt go Hens

Enjoying your first couple posts. Welcome to the board…and a screen name that brings back some good memories (still have a couple old DP mugs).DPmugmember96 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:09 am The past couple seasons yes CUSA has been a better basketball conference but as recently as 2016-2017 CAA was better. But, 2016-2017 was a long time ago…even more so considering the swapping of teams within the two leagues. The CAA has brought in some dreck.

Re: Easy money?
Agree with your latter comment, but the former needs further clarification. Historically, as in "over the last 25 seasons", the CAA men's league has seldom (only six times) had a higher RPI ranking than CUSA. CAA's superiority was mainly limited to the three seasons between 2015-2018 and seldom before or since. We're moving to a stronger hoops league, and Martin had better pull a rabbit out of his hat or some hidden orifice, if we expect to be competitive.DPmugmember96 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:09 amThe past couple seasons yes CUSA has been a better basketball conference but as recently as 2016-2017 CAA was better. "This Is Not A Political Site" was VP in 2016 and a partial month of 2017.
A lot has changed since then.

Haven't found KC to not be approachable, so long as you approach him with good spirits. He has a great sense of humor.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 10:55 amIn many ways that is true, he knows it’s about talent and seems to bleed Blue and Gold but their was just something special about KC… he walks the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach and probably still gets stopped for autographs and despite his ego, he seems very approachable.DPmugmember96 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 3:03 amI agree I don’t think Carty will be gone, sure he’s struggled against Villanova and some other schools but overall I think he’s done a great job.
