93BlueHen wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 3:22 pm The glass half full is that ticket prices remained the same. $255/each for my chairback seats in the west stands is still decent value, in my opinion. $42.50 per game. That's 1/4 the face value ($175) of an Eagles nosebleed ticket.

Parking continues to be my glass half-empty. I used to have parking in Gold Champion ten years ago. Then they converted that to Gold VIP and priced me out of there, so I went over to Blue Champion in front of the Fieldhouse. Then they decided to jack up the price there a couple of years back, so I went to Hensaver. Now they're converting part of Hensaver (the Ice Arena) to a premium lot, so I'll cross the street to STAR parking.

If they price me out of STAR in the future, they may lose me for good. Money isn't the issue. I have plenty. It's the principle. I like bargains. Paying $15 a game for a parking space is about my limit. $50 (Ice Arena now), $75 (champions) or $100 (VIP) per game is just freaking nutty. God bless you all who blow your money like that. The Athletic Director thanks you.
I hear you Wayne - we used to have multiple Gold Champion passes - now when I goto the game I park offsite for $10….
Yup, I've been parking at the Boy Scouts lot for years. Doesn't matter if I show up early or late, there's always been a spot and I even get to tailgate on grass if I back into the space. I miss the days of the Gold Lot and the chaos way back when (they didn't guarantee your spot if you showed up 30 minutes before game time and you parked wherever you wanted - key was getting there early and getting a perimeter spot!). I probably would pony up more for it if I had a larger group - down to 3 seats now and might be 2 for next year (other family doesn't come anymore and I got 2 kids in college).

I wish I could invest more in UD but it'll have to wait until my kids get out of college. Just a reality.

Happy to pay more for a better product. However, the move up doesn’t mean we need to pay whatever price is asked…for a G5.5 team.

You see, in all the noise about moving up, which included the idea that a lot, but certainly not all, of the move would be covered by increased revenue (TV revenue, advertising, ticket prices, etc.), there are/were some things that UD isn’t being honest about. Those of us in the know about UD finances are a bit more realistic about what is being charged and why.

Don’t mind being charged more for a better product, but I sure as heck don’t want to be hornswoggled with exploding prices in order to cover for administration errors, poor judgement and badly handled finances.

So, as can any other discerning customer of any other product, I will make purchasing adjustments accordingly and reserve the right to make factual comments about said products. Others simply toe the company line and expect obeisance and recoil when people don't follow along. To each his own.
All I want for Christmas is a 2025 Bowl game for our Hens.

If the Tub was full I’d get seasons again, but my kids enjoy going to P4 level games better and I can just buy the cheapest seats in the house and sit virtually anywhere in the East stands that are rarely more than half full.

Free markets are awesome. If UD prices things right and puts the right product on the field, the stadium will be full. If they don't, the stadium will be half empty.

Don't blame the fans. UD is driving this bus.

Most marketing folks know that you make your product must-have before you start trying to upcharge.

If you make attending games a test of financial loyalty, people will show their loyalty by watching games on ESPN+ for $10/month.

When the FBS move was announced, there was handringing about the price of the seats with the move to FBS.

All of the seats and most of the parking, in fact, remains the same. This, despite the fact that we are dumping the CAA dregs and welcoming a new group of higher aspiration programs.

Change is hard I know. Other parking options remain. We can do this!

For sure to all. But hey, beyond griping about a price increase in a couple hundred parking spots, we did get some indispensable insider knowledge about how UD is run and economic lessons too! /s/

Well stated. There are still plenty of affordable parking options available - even free spaces if you know where to look and are willing to take a little bit of a stroll.

Personally, I don't think the move is a wise one at this time, just given the apparent amount of reserved spaces already available elsewhere. That said, I've got no gripes with it. I'm confident the school will adjust prices down for these spaces if this doesn't work out as planned.

I will only be watching from my Living Room,

But.................It sounds like some want a Lobster Dinner for a Salisbury Steak Price.

As one poster who thinks Chrissi should be beating down the door of the BIG conferences , They are not giving until they see shovels in the ground. Expanded stadiums don't get built like that. And were they not involved in college athletics for 35 years??? They more than anyone else should know how this game is played.

I don't have the answer nor pretend to try to find one, But We all knew it came with increases, will the University cave in and reduce those prices???? They may be a little more resistant to that now that they are stepping up in class?????

To clarify I haven’t had season tickets for a number of years after having them for 45 years or so. I still goto games but kids games/travel got in way. Now that they’re moving up I’ll goto more UD games.

OK, OK...you guys have me putting my thinking cap on.

Football Parking Steal Deal of the Week:

Park in front of my house for $5. That will include a burger and a beer. 15 minute walk to the stadium.

Bonus: for an extra $5, you can get another beer and I'll put a tent and a big screen TV in the yard so you don't have to walk to the stadium...I promise the volume won't break your ears.

We'll call it UD Bailgating, since we'd be bailing on actually attending the game. Heck, maybe we'll make a season ticket deal where parkers will bring their own grillables and park for free. Double heck, I'll even bring the Fornetto to the front yard so that we can fire up some pizzas...just have to bring your own toppings.

Bailgate 2025 is going to be lit!

Hey, in addition to the 3 or 4 Hens games I got to this year, I also went to 4 Navy home games with my kid being a plebe down there this year. I only had seasons for the UD games. Amazingly easy to get at price or under face value for the Navy tickets I got (although this method doesn't get me Army/Navy tickets easily or cheaply, skipping this year rather than paying the $500/ticket they're going for, if not more), and occasionally I got parking permits down there for spots in the stadium lots (restricted to season ticket holders there). But was amazed at the abundance of parking that was available basically right across the road in multiple people's backyards, and it was only $20 to park there. Heck, even one backyard was taking Venmo which was super handy! Last time I parked in someone's yard for a game was when we made the trek to Youngstown back in '98.

That’s a good deal if we can have open use of your bathrooms to pay the rent on beer.

How about Uber service for those that do not want to walk? Could be an additional fee! 8)
"Clu-ber" one possible name for the service.
