Fun day at the lacrosse scrimmage. Sunny, but chilly. 250-300 fans in attendance. The Club was open and had free access for fans - nice touch.
Our guys got themselves into a 5-1 hole, trailed 5-3 at half, but bounced back and led 8-7 at the end of the third Q. #10 Denver tied it up at 8 early in the 4th when I had to leave.
Guys were a little rusty, but they missed a day of practice (snow day) and have been practicing a lot indoors due to the low temperatures.
Physical team...loved the effort...banged bodies all over the field yet avoided penalties (first one called against our Hens was late 3rd/early 4thQ). We did well with face offs and ground balls...a good sign. Goalkeeping was solid (two Denver goals tricked in after initial stops, and our guy made some solid saves). D let up a couple goals off mistakes, but overall looked good (Denver had a couple goals on outstanding individual efforts). Offense wasn't as crisp, and I don't think we'll be winning a lot of shoot outs (not our style anyway), but we have several guys that can put the ball in the net.
It was a scrimmage, but we played some good lacrosse against one of the top teams in the nation. As one of the fans said, we can do well with the face offs and we have a good goalie. That will keep you in, and win, a lot of games.
Bonus: we have some danged fun parents and fans.
Bonus 2: love having several more home games this year.
Looking forward to the season.
All I want for Christmas is a 2025 Bowl game for our Hens.
