At the risk of setting HZ off I really do think this will do a lot for the university and a the program. My kids look at the Hens differently because they are “In the Game.”

No need to worry about people who have little clue about how the world works.

The young fans (and I include UD students in that category) will get to see our team and our players on TV...AND THEY WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES WITH OUR SCHOOL'S PLAYERS (AND SOME OF THEIR FRIENDS/CLASSMATES/COWORKERS/ETC.).

Hello.

That will bring in more eyeballs and support for the program...while the old farts take their afternoon snooze.

Chris Vannini from The Athletic, who has had great coverage about the EA Sports College Football game franchise for the past two years, had this tidbit in a recent article.

EA Sports College Football 26: The 5 biggest changes in game’s new version (Subscription Required)
During a week in which leaders in college football again argued about the future of the College Football Playoff and threats to leave the NCAA, this game was once again a reminder of the celebration of all of college football. There are so many more stadium run-out shots and new school-specific songs/chants added, along with turnover celebrations. We got Akron’s tire celebration and Clemson’s bus entrance in the trailer. New additions Delaware and Missouri State look as good as everyone else (and I particularly liked the Delaware playbook).
As a follow up, I commented on his article in the comment section and he added some good Delaware game news.
David B.
Thanks for the Delaware info, as I was wanting to know if EASports put as much into the Blue Hens (and Missouri State Bears) addition as the original teams from last year.

@David B. I played a home game as Delware and the environment was solid.
Looking forward to purchasing the game in July.

It's not the first time Delaware was on EA Sports NCAA Football. We were on College Football USA '96 on Sega Genesis via EA Sports.

Delaware was also on the original EA Sports NCAA Football series from the 2004 version through the 2011 version.

"Delaware's PLAYBOOK" is on EA Sports? That doesn't mean that most/all of UD's plays are publicly available does it?

Come on, Bill. You really think teams would share their playbook to the public for a video game?

Udforever, No I don't think so but the reference to "Delaware's PLAYBOOK" on EA Sports made me nervous. I am not and probably never will be an online game player. So what is meant by "Delaware's PLAYBOOK" on EA Sports?

The video game, if hitting its marks, attunes to realism by mimicking the offensive and defensive concepts (I'm thinking of "base" concepts) of teams/coaches. The literal playbook is not gracing our screens in playing the game, but the plays you can/do choose from are those in the system that I'm thinking realistically would appear in a spread/multiple offense and a 3-high defense (in Delaware's case).

A Delaware book in the game that is fun to play with is a nice hat tip to Carty's O/credit also to Coach Archer's coordination.

UDan, Thanks for the explanation. However, given the risk of giving UD's opponent players & coaches the unlimited opportunities to visually play/scheme against UD's base O & D and to choose plays in the system that would realistically appear in UD's base offensive & defensive schemes, I would rather see UD not participate in EA Sports or any other video game platform.

They’d be the only FBS program to not be in it if that were the case…

William, our opponents will rely exclusively on recent game tapes to prepare for upcoming games, not a video game based on speculative player performance. Come on, brother--use your smarts.

Like you, I've never played a video game in my life, but I do know this from everything I've ever read and the younger generations who have done so: being included by EA Sports is NEVER a detraction. The game represents a significant recruiting and marketing tool for the football program and school.
