Phil Steele’s College Football Magazine - CUSA Blog

Post by Big R »

I just ordered my copy of Phil Steele’s College Football Magazine from his web site. While there, I clicked on the Daily Blog tag and read his piece on “2025 CUSA Hits and Misses”. As had already been mentioned in other CUSA threads on our board, UD has the most difficult schedule in the conference. The article lays out all the details and demonstrates just how difficult that schedule is. This only goes to reconfirm my previously stated expectations for the coming year in which I said I am hopeful for 4 wins and would be tickled to get 5 or 6 wins.

My expectations are a little higher, but I am just so pleased that we have made the move.

6 days.

Obviously WINS are the biggest measuring stick for our success but for me, I am going to be almost as interested in HOW we play and hold up against the bigger, faster athletes and our performance on the Lines of Scrimmage. It's an era and level of anticipation that we haven't experienced in many years. Certainly looking forward to our new schedule and opportunities.

Yes, size does matter with the line of scrimmage play and i want to see how long it takes to get the dancing elephants the Hens need to fully compete

Agree HJ. I think we get 4 wins this year, would be thrilled with 5. But to me it’s how we play and how we hold up playing against FBS programs every week.

The ones I’m mostly concerned about are the FBS teams with a really good running attack. Especially if we get thin on the D line. We’ve got some good experience on the OL and offensively we’re going to have success most games. I’m still thinking we can get five with a season ending win against UTEP.

i see his logic, but at the same time one could easily see SHSU and Jax St as green teams given their top to bottom turnover from coaching to the portal...

Not a single first team player...although that is subject to change by the end of the season.

Jimmies and Joes.

Agreed. Pre-season player awards are flattering...but clearly the end of season awards hold the most weight.

While you can't bet Delaware football from instate via the BetRivers app, a friend who is out of state forwarded me the following lines:

DELAWARE SEASON WIN TOTAL

Over 4.5 ... -140
Under 4.5 ... +114

So 5 is the sweet spot in Vegas.
