2026 Baseball
Schedule hasn’t been released yet, but heard today that the Hens will play a 3 game series at Mississippi State. The Bulldogs won a national championship in 2021.
Lot of new players offensively this year and fairly inexperienced pitching staff. Should be an interesting first year in CUSA.

Re: 2026 Baseball
Even though they are two of the closest Division 1 schools to Newark, Navy and Villanova once again are not on the schedule for some unexplained reason. Navy has not been a regular season opponent for at least 50 years, with just a couple of exceptions. The bus regularly drives further south to the D.C. area schools but won’t stop in Annapolis. We used to play Villanova regularly but now go routinely go further to Rider, Rutgers, Lehigh, and Lafayette, even though the Wildcats were supposedly a rival on the gridiron.

I've heard rumors that because we can never beat Villanova ever, the athletic department does not allow them on our scheduleEast Coaster wrote: ↑Fri Nov 28, 2025 7:14 am Even though they are two of the closest Division 1 schools to Newark, Navy and Villanova once again are not on the schedule for some unexplained reason. Football (We all know how that goes)
MBB - 0-16 ( but I'll give them a break)
MLAX - 11-15 including 5 game losing streak
Our women's sports have a pretty decent record against them though, maybe it's just a football men's lacrosse problem

How long until this board calls for the HC to be fired - 3 year record of 89-80, includingUdforever1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 1:52 pm Hens picked 11th out of 12 in the pre season CUSA poll.

3 wins vs DSU?
2 seasons in CUSA, or just 1, if they finish in 11th place as predicted?

Re: 2026 Baseball
WIth baseball, I dont see them being the top 5 or even top 7 of the league UNLESS they make major changes and keep talent in Newark. They def have to recruit the south [FL, LA, GA, etc] to get better

Re: 2026 Baseball
With the change in the total number of full scholarships to 34, hopefully the baseball team can start recruiting better prospects. Max rosters are now 34 players and all of which can obviously receive a full scholarship. As opposed to previous years, when the total scholarships were just under 12 with a 40 man roster. Will have to see how that has an effect on the type of players that come into Newark.

Re: 2026 Baseball
I have zero inside information as of today but I’d be shocked if UD was halfway or more towards 34 scholarships.frmrbluehen wrote: ↑Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:22 am With the change in the total number of full scholarships to 34, hopefully the baseball team can start recruiting better prospects. Hens open up the season with 3 at Elon this weekend. Not expecting much this year but we’ll see.

Re: 2026 Baseball
I hope we can figure it out early but really never see them being a top 5-6 team or better.
