Tyler August played only one season for UD in 2024. He has been a reasonably successful reliever at Liberty in 2025 & so far in 2026. In 2025 he pitched 27 total innings with a 4.00 ERA. He had one AtBat in 2025. So far in 2026 he has pitched in 28 innings with a 2.77 ERA. He has yet to have an AB. At UD in 2024, he appeared in 15 games as a pitcher including 8 as a starter. He won 3 games & lost 6 games. In 46.2 innings total he allowed 57 Hits. 56 runs (53 Earned), 42 Walks, 58 Strike Outs, 13 Doubles, 4 Triples, 10 HRs , a .305 Opponent Batting Avg., 18 Wild Pitches, 8 Hit Batters, a WHIP of 2.12, and had a 10.22 ERA. As a batter, he was much more impressive in his 10 ABs. He scored 4 runs, had 4 hits, 0 Doubles, 0 Triples, 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, 10 Total Bases, Slugging % of 1.000, 3 Walks, 2 Strike Outs, Hit into 1 Double Play, had an On Base% of .571, a .400 Avg., and a 1.571 OPS. Based on his stats at UD and at Liberty It appears to me that Tyler August wants to be a pitcher, not an every day player. Based on his limited batting at UD, it appears to me that he had more potential as a hitter than as a pitcher. At Liberty, he is a reliever, not a starting pitcher. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe that many college relief pitchers make it to the Majors. Maybe that was a source of conflict at UD.

At least we didn't get swept & like others have said, we didn't issue a walk on Friday but did hit 3 batters. Saturday and Sunday we gave 7 & 6 walks plus hit two batters

It was good to see the clean up hitter, Davis, return to the lineup this past weekend after being out for an extended period of time. He missed all of last year too. In the last game, Minkler made a great defensive play when he fired a strike to our catcher from left field, nailing a FIU runner who was trying to score from second base by at least 6 feet

We are in 12th place. 9 teams make the playoffs. We are 4 games out of 9th place with 6 games to play.

Samuel Houston leads the CUSA in stolen bases. We will be in trouble this weekend if we issue our normal number of free passes. A walk and a stolen base equals a double.

BASEBALL AMERICA ON CUSA BASEBALL

If there’s one mid-major league outside the Sun Belt we feel confident about sending at least three teams to the field, it’s Conference USA. There was even internal discussion this week about whether one of its teams belongs on the host line.

We placed Liberty, Missouri State and Jacksonville State in the field, all as projected two-seeds, with Liberty and Missouri State in the upper tier of that group. If the season ended today, Missouri State would have a case to host, but our projection has all three landing on the two line barring movement from power conference teams like Mississippi State, Nebraska or Oklahoma, which would need to stumble in a meaningful way to finish with a host resume that falls short of a Conference USA representative.

In other words, it’s far from impossible, just not the most likely outcome.

I knew this team was bad but didn't realize how bad until looking at the standings.

Last place in conference - 5-22 record and 1-14 away. Overall, they are 17-34 with an away record of 4-23.

They really need to make some wholesale changes from the staff to the players

Would be very surprised if there’s a staff change. More likely a major roster overhaul.

The real staff change would be the pitching coach. I dont recall a team having as many walks or past balls as this team does.

I will give Mams one more year to turn it around.
