Hens win the second game of the doubleheader 9-4 to sweep the series. Shaffer hit her 14th home run of the season and Costaro hit a pair of home runs (her 4th and 5th home runs of the season). Hens are now 14-7 in conference play. FIU beat 2nd place Liberty so Liberty’s record is now 14-6. Western Kentucky is now tied with Liberty for 2nd place with a 14-6 record too.

Unfortunately, the Hens drop the opener at New Mexico State (3-1). Maddie Diamond hit her 13th home run of the year. Not sure why the Hens started their 4th pitcher against New Mexico State’s best pitcher. Hopefully, we can bounce back and win the next two games. It’s too bad because 3rd place Liberty lost today as well and we could have moved into a tie for 3rd if we had won.

Hens beat New Mexico St. today 11-2 in 6 innings. Costaro, Chapman (inside the park), and Mulligan hit home runs. Scheivert went 4 for 4. Crossman got the win. Faith Aragon, the NM St. pitcher, who pitched so well yesterday against the Hens giving up only one run, started this game as well and got rocked early giving up 6 runs in 1.2 innings. I don’t understand starting her again in back to back games. That didn’t work out well for them. Liberty lost again to La. Tech so the Hens and Liberty are now tied for 3rd place with 15-8 in conference records. NM St. is now a game back in 5th place with a 14-9 record. Win tomorrow and the Hens would have a chance to finish in 2nd place if they can sweep Western Kentucky at home in the final series (a tall order though as Western Kentucky is playing well too).

Thanks, Jax. I'm traveling and cannot watch the games this week.
The tournament on our field is going to be fun. Maybe, we can finally kick the door down.

Hens beat WKU 6-3 in the opening game of the series. Crossman got the win. Maddie Diamond hit her 15th home run of the season tying Delaware’s freshman home run record and tying Shaffer for the team lead in home runs. The Hens beat WKU’s best pitcher. New Mexico State lost to Missouri State and fall one game back to the Hens. Hens are now tied for 3rd place with Liberty.

With 2 games to go, looks like the Hens can finish anywhere between 2nd and 6th. Two wins guarantees them at least 3rd and combined with a Liberty loss puts them in 2nd.

Hens beat WKU 4-2 after going down 2-0 in the first inning. Wilkerson was brought in to relieve the Hens starting pitcher in the first inning and shut out WKU the remainder of the game. Chapman hit a clutch double to drive in two runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Shaffer hit her 16th home run of the season in the 5th inning to add an insurance run. The Hens have a chance to sweep WKU with a win tomorrow. Nice win.

Seeding implications tomorrow:
- Delaware win + Liberty loss = 2 seed (double bye)
- Delaware win + Liberty win = 3 seed
- Delaware loss = 4 seed

Today’s win moved the Hens safe from playing in the first round

Getting ahead of myself here, and still a lot of season hopefully left, but what an incredible first year in CUSA for the ladies. I had my concerns early on in the year with a young pitching staff, young players in key positions in general and an extreme jump up in conference competition (CUSA was 8th last year in conference RPI, CAA 23rd), but the team has more than held their own in their first year.

Hopefully this is the year we finally knock the door down, but the future continues to be bright regardless. Top notch facilities don’t hurt either.

The Hens play at 5:00 on Weds vs. winner of NMSU-SHSU.

Win that, and we we face #1 seed Jax at noon on Thursday.

If we lose on Weds., we play again at 5:00 on Thurs.

Should be fun.

Hens will take on New Mexico State at 5 after they defeated Sam Houston. There was some post game drama between the teams during the final game a few weeks ago, so should be a fun one.

Wild one. Hens blew a 7-1 lead in the 6th as NMSU tied it 7-7. Hens then put up a 4 spot in the bottom of the 6th and win 11-7.
