Joe Lunardi doing the broadcast. Tuff to get a read on the team with all the players out for this game. Christian Bliss has looked pretty good.

Hens lose by 20. GIve up 86 points and shoot 4-17 from 3 and 62% from the line. Reilly, Njoku and Fernandez did not play

I'm really starting to get nervous about Njoku's health. This team will struggle yet again without serviceable post play. Feels like an important year for MI. Really hoping we start to see improvement throughout the season as guys get comfortable with each other and in our system.

Im not too worried about the final score due to not having 5 players with 2 who will probably be our leading scorers. At times we had 4 freshman out there St Joes had their full squad with a veteran team. Had it within 2 early 2nd half then **** the bed.

Bliss did not disappoint...24 pts, 4 boards, 2 assist and 2 steals and only 2 TO's in 35 mins under constant pressure. He will be a good one for us this year.
Houser was solid...made a few nice post moves and hit a 3.
Ellison looks promising for a freshman but will need to add strength.
Kazanecki and Taylor made a couple plays but also mistakes, again as freshman

Disappointed in Brown and M Emory. Brown couldnt hit a shot (2/12, 0/8 from 3) and that is supposed to be his strength. I didnt really see much of anything else from him and might be better suited as a spot up guy wihen we get Reilly/Fernandez back
M Emory just needs to learn from this game and put it behind....absolute stink fest.

I know Njoku played in the Loyola scrimmage last saturday so not a good sign he is back in street clothes. Hopefully Reilly and Fernandez are back soon or it will be a really long season. Will need Kebe's size and skill as well.

Frustrating to have season somewhat start and we are back to dealing with injuries. Apparently Reilly injured his shoulder during CAA tournament last spring and has been rehabbing it all summer. Fernandez has some sort of ankle/foot injury but no idea on timeline. No idea what Njoku and Kebe issues are. Piper was in a boot

Our ROY guard from last year had 6 mins and 0 pts in Vtech loss to Duquesne today

Couple more thoughts on this game despite a 20 pt loss plus a game writeup with some Delaware stuff at bottom

https://www.cityofbasketballlove.com/ne ... ow/1348673 (Piper out till 2026)

Positives
Houser had 16 pts and 6 boards.
Fr. Kazanecki had 5 pts/4 boards and 0 turnovers in 23 mins of play.
Fr. Taylor 4 pts, 6 boards, 2 steals and a block in 22 mins of play
Only 11 turnovers for the team despite heavy ball pressure

Negative:
3 pt shooting
Foul shooting
Only 11 assist

Game came down to them making 11 threes and 88% from line. We made 4 threes and 62% from line

Not suggesting we win but having 2 veteran guards playing in Reilly and Fernandez IMO would have made this a closer game.

Hearing we are getting some guys back in time for next week opener.

Still feel good about what we have
